Is anyone else having issues with their Go Pro shutting off after the first bump/rough section/get off? It is getting really frustrating riding a great section with lots of good stuff to find the unit off or restarted with no video running. Any sudgestions would be appreciated. I had a great vid of a 6 mile climb that starts at 3800' and ends at over 9000' with incredible views and the damn thing would not stay on for more than a few minutes regardless of battery and card changes. Lost some great vid of a perfect day on the 167. Walt
Walt sounds like maybe the little springs that press against the battery need to be stretch a bit. Hopefully it will be that simple and pray it's not a cold solder joint. Is it still under warranty? Good luck Bro.
I have the HD, and while the battery doesnt give me issues, I am constantly getting corrupted files. I would say it gives me about 50% of what I actually shoot into a usable file. Hopefully the firmware update and trying a few different SD cards will help. They are good cameras, but they can be pretty hit or miss sometimes.
My HD wont turn off... Really you have to pull the battery to get it to shut off. It always takes great video if I mash the buttons correctly though. Here is a video I made to show them, they gave me a return order. But who wants to be without the camera in the middle of summer? I am hoping the firmware update fixes this problem also. Later,
Mine dose the same thing as the OPs. Still haven't found a solution or fix. I think they're just another example of well marketed cheap Chinese junk. Next time I'm springing for a quality unit.
It's by far the best one at that price point. Can you name the brand that you're springing for next time? Please don't tell me it's the Contour HD brand. Did you try and contact them? What did they tell you? I haven't had a single issue with mine.
HAHA you are basicly calling the best product available a cheap chinese product. as stated before the contour is a joke. All you hear is wind since the mic isnt noice canceling. Our go Pro works great and because the awesome mic all I hear it bike( not wind). Sorry for your problems but Go Pro HD is the Best around and I love mine.
I do love the Go Pro when it is recording. I also have some issues with card corruption. I have had some luck by doing a complete re-formatting but currently have two cards that are toast. When will the firmware patch be available? Thanks for the replies. I have had the model apart and can see no obvious wiring issues and the springs are extended.
To the guys with corrupted files, download the program VirtualDub. All you do is open the program, and then select the corrupted file. A little window will pop up, something like index blocks shows up, and it would appear the numbers start to exceed the max, just let it continue. When it's done save the file. This has worked on all my corrupt files. As for the shutoff, never had that happen on mine.
Walt are talking the HD model ? I have the wide angle std model although I have to keep track of the battery life...no issues otherwise One thing I will gripe about is the black porthole ring that retains the lens and seal.....it only took a small amount of roost it before it started to break away...eventually the "sound chamber effect is breached" and the basically camera is unusable..... problem is you cant buy the ret/ring with the lens kit...you have to buy the whole body So I made a HD steel ring myself.... out of a stainless steel washer and drilled the small holes...presto back in action and tougher to boot
I went onto their site and read about the update. The last line got me thinking it was the update for the HERO Wide lens cameras not the HD but no doubt the same process. 12. Once the camera has finished loading the new firmware, it will turn itself off. Have you installed the update?
I followed the site instructions to try and download the patch onto the Go Pro. It doesn't take it for some reason.
