Greg (Ioneater) and I came back from the Desert 100 in Odessa, WA and were in need of a ride with some trees. As it happened, the day and weather couldn't have turned out any better.

Greg rides a 2010 TXC 250 and I'm on a 2009 TXC 250. These bikes are all that you need for this type of WA riding...perfect! Every time I get on my 2009 TXC 250, I fall deeper and deeper in love with it. It has the perfect blend of power to lay down excellent traction coupled with a very quiet note coming out of the pipe. I find the weight of the bike to be almost perfect front to back. Heck, it's at least 25 lbs less than my 2008 TE 450 with less reciprocating mass so I don't get as tired. Also, it doesn't vibrate near as much as my 2008 TE 450.

The bike is set-up beautifully and weighs in at 268 with a full tank of gas compared to Greg's 2010 TXC, which is 256 with a full tank of gas. Both bikes are equally battle armored.

I put on some stout Motosportz front and rear rotor guards. They have nice scratches in them and have served their purpose well. I am running the Motosportz radiator guards, which has saved me numerous times already.

I put on a Hyde bash plate and this thing is super thick and durable with excellent protective coverage. I like how it slides over logs instead of grabbing them like a cheese grater. In order to shorten up the throttle turn, I replace the throttle with a G2 Quick Turn Throttle, which gives me immediate throttle response...good for a 250f.

I put on some Pastrana FMX Pro Taper Contour bars with some trusty Cycras and Vibranators attached. The bars are tall, have a perfect bend and are a tad narrower...perfect. The Cycras are a little finicky to get on, but they have never failed me! I actually like how they move a scoch with a crash as to distribute the impact and not bend anything important (Bars, clamps, bolts). The Vibranator's seem work very well as my hands don't go numb.

A P3 Carbon Fiber Header Pipe Guard and matching Mid-Pipe Guard are an absolute necessity! I melted my pants against the header pipe almost down to my skin trying to bulldog the bike down a hill and the same goes with the mid-pipe too.

I run my forks at the 3rd line from the top and a Scott's Stabilizer with BRP sub-mount assy really settles down the front end at speed. What I really like about the Scott's Stabilizer is the high speed damper. There have been several situations when I cringed at an obstacle that normally would have ripped the bars out of my hands and tossed me on the ground, but only had minimal input to the bars and front end...just amazing!

I hate getting pinch flats so I put on the Nuetech Tubliss set-up, front and rear. I also spooned on some Dunlop MX 51's, which are great tires that wear well. I still like the Motoz rear tire that Greg is running on his TXC better, but will go back to my favorite...a trials tire! The Tubliss system works well once you get over the learning curve and it's much easier to put on new tires. The rear has worked flawless for over year and half. I poked a hole in the front tire at the Desert 100. I put some slime in and it sealed the hole. The Slime acts as a lubricant between the tire and red inner liner when running extremely low pressure. I will eventually plug the hole. Nuetech should be coming out with a plug kit very soon.

    I put in a Rekluse clutch. I can't live without it...enough said!

Well enough about the bike. Here are some videos that I took using the lowest resolution setting on my HD GoPro mounted on my chest (chesty mount).

Good stuff David. You need to try the 300 kit... :D

I also got a flat out at the desert 100 with the tubliss... Well Shane did anyway... He finished the lap and didn't even know it. There was two 1/4" cuts in the tire that were a bit too big for slime. I used regular sicky plugs the next day at Mattawa. :applause:

    Worked great.

Which plug system did you use? I was worried that I would pierce the red inner liner and high pressure small tube.

    Yeah...300...it's in my future!

This one from Slime, it packs up nice and small.

The tires are not steel belted like a car tire so it does not take much force for the reamer or to insert the plug. I was careful but I did feel it bump the inner liner a little.

    Awesome!
    Those look like great trails.

I cant believe how quite your bike is. Is that the stock exhaust?

You, Kelly, Adam, Shane and Jake should come up some time...try aligning everyone's schedule. Everyone seems to comment on how quiet the bike is and it's stock. I guess I don't rev the piss out of it...lol. Actually, it's pretty quiet when it hit's the RPM's too.

I'm game. Let's make it happen!
