Been hearing a few words on Huskies here on Cebu, nothing really new as a few street Huskies are around ...Just wanted to ensure the white and blue dirt bikes are not actually being imported yet for consumption, so since I was in the city, I took a look around for a new Husqvarna branded dirt bike.

What was found was GranStar Motors Industrial Corporation (GMIC) .... These guys are the importer of bikes here ..

In 2012 GMIC obtained the exclusive rights to distribute all the brands of the Piaggio Group from Italy. The brands include VESPA, APRILIA and PIAGGIO. These premium brands complemented our low end bikes from China and India. We now have the complete range from the cheapest bikes demanded in the rural areas to the most luxurious bikes that can be found in big cities.

Add KTM to that list and Husky is gonna wiggle in there somehow I'm guessing ...

GMIC is right around the corner where my visa has to be re-stamped every 60 days and new knobbies are sold just around the other corner... Just happens to be right by NORKIS, the Yamaha importer. A very good neighborhood (Talamban)to say the least.

Here's the pics .. Those bikes under-wraps in both sides of the warehouse are mostly Dukes I think with a few Husky TRs(?) and Nudas ... That is about the Husky story here as of lately and we all know the story on those 2 bikes ... Seems likely those bikes came in under the previous Husqvarna brand-owner and let's just hope that has not soured the dealing for Huskies in the future for this importer... It would seem KTM can smooth all this over but who knows? Philippines has enough self-generated issues alone.

With visa work every 60 days due, it will be easy to check for new Huskies and I'm gonna contact this GMIC and see if they need any help with the dirt bike Huskies ... Maybe a country F from the states is needed to stand around and drink beer and talk smack on the bikes ... Being a ITL Husky owner will not matter to these guys I think ... But, if so, I'll go back to chrome tanked '76 CR250 I owned ... SP is ok with those models ....

There's the new IRC knobby I also purchased since I was in the city ... It's the rainy season here; hard time crossing valleys with a IRC over 50% used up in the mudd...

they (the brand importers) have a bright biz future with the (KTM) Bajaj built basic transport line of bikes to compete with the Chinese knock offs and should be able to beat them out. If they can grab the 125 -250 4T market in PI they got $$ coming in big time. Basically all the Bajaj bikes are designed/engineered/suited to 3rd world base transport and local modes including trikes and industrial/agriculture transport for public transport and for taking stuff to market.

With KTM, these guys are riding on a money wagon for sure ... Just hope these guys do not shoot themselves in a vital spot with their own business dealings ... Just today I was with a crowd that could afford these bikes and they liked the 390 and the Nuda bikes ...

The racing guys have the bucks for sure and want top of the line bikes ... And they are well aware of such things as seat height, and bars and peg height ... That's what will need to be addressed also ...

Also was talking with a mechanic there who was sent to Austria to be training on the KTMs and he sounded like he was well aware of the EFI stuff and the bikes .. I made the comment they would never sell all those 014-015 models he say yes they will sell all of them ... I'll keep my eyes over there ... Prices here do not drop nearly as quick as they do in the states on left-over models ...

Certainly hope they made it ... This will probably be my chance to buy a newer model Husky in 3-4 yrs ...
