So I bought some high intensity LED bars two weeks ago and I've attached them to my handguards today. In the photo the wires are attached to a spare motorcycle battery I have laying around and I would like to permanently attach them to some switched wire in the headlight housing. Has anyone done this before and which wires could I use best for this application?
Does your terra have a 3w parking light that comes on when the key is on without the engine running like the TE's have? If so, you could tap into that since they're not pulling much power.
Thats a good one thanks, there is a position light on the Terra which I am planning to change to a LED soon too so I will posti tap the handguard LEDs to those wires.
I've tapped that position light to be the ignition-on relay trigger for my aux lights and my heated handgrips. It doesn't serve much purpose on its own as the headlight is always on. It must be a statutory requirement in some markets perhaps.
I see, I tapped into the position light yesterday and it works like a charm. Also installed some high reflective tape around the motorcycle and a LED as the position light. I will receive the Cyclops headlight kit somewhere next week so that is also going to be installed asap.
I went ahead and ran both set of wires from the battery to the headlight area and installed a relay that I then used the high beams as a trigger. While LEDS are certainly more watt conscious than a typical halogen bulb...I was comfortable just adding to the existing load and risk overloading the wire or a switch.
I when all out and did my home work. found 2 products modified them to fit and work how i wanted them. it did take some time to get it to what you see. the only thing i didn't do was take pic's of the build. handguards: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/66316/i/acerbis-vision-handguards LED Spot light http://www.twistedthrottle.com/dena...ght-kit-with-full-wiring-harness-and-m8-mount
