My top handlebar clamp is bent and will not let handlebars get straight. Does anybody know any better option to the stock clamps, that will not let them get all cockeyed when I tip it over?
BRP makes aluminum cones that replace the rubber cones that mount your clamps. Replace cones and clamps and you're good to go. BRP should have clamps too if you call and ask.
I've used aftermarket ones from a kx450f they fit just fine on my older cr 125 (same top clamp as newer models I believe) they would get tweaked it a crash but could be straightened on the trail with the wheel between your legs. With any set up something has to give, better twisted bar mount than bent bars IMO. My current bike has the stock clamps I just twist that mount back straight when it gets tweaked. Some ppl have also cut off the bars connects the two clamps.
I had the same problem as you. I ended up having my top clamp drilled out and tapped. This more or less makes it a solid mount setup. I than used Zip Ty racing's bar mounts. They work great and are a normal non-offset design as compared to the stockers.
