I pop the top on my canteen and raise my canteen cup with a toast to soldiers past and present, living and dead. Everybody pull out your chocolate nut cake and cocoa powder, creamer, sugar and coffee. Make your Ranger pudding....not too lumpy now....easy on the water.....Now, spread lightly over your chocolate nut cake. Get your issue green matches, pull one off and place in the top of your delicious cake. Light match....Now sing.....Done yet? O.k. eat your cake and get back to work. What? I read where the beret the troops were forced to wear somewhat daily was moved to the back seat and the patrol cap is back ... I never had to wear a beret but would never have liked it since it does not have a bill to keep the sun out of my eyes ... Only took a decade to figure out the troops did not like it .... Happy Bday US Army ... Feel free to give some troops the day off after 1st formation
Yes, we did a collective hi five yesterday coming to work wearing our PC's! Finally! Berets still there but for special occasions and dress uniform.
