Can I do that on my wr300? I was thinking on buying of this(link)for my Garmin cus I hate it when the battery goes dead. Would be nice to power it from bike. But I dont know if I can do it let alone where I would wire it too?

You will need a Rectifier / regulator and a battery pack, small one in the air box. This make "clean" 12V DC which you will need. You might need a stator, i can't remember if the Wr can be wired for Dc or not. I think not and will need rewound or replaced. Call Trailtech.

Dao- sounds like way to much hassle for simply remembering to carry spare batteries. Thx

Yeah, that's what I think as well. My GPS runs for several days off of two AA batteries. I just pack a few spare sets and I'm good to go.

Mine is even more simple that I would just need a PowerLet plug for my HDB top clamp and an adapter for my GPS. I'd rather just pack a few batteries.

I like having mine wired up, back light is brighter and you never get 3/4th through a ride and find out your bats are dead.

If i'm not mistaken the Wr's have a 120W AC alternator. you could probably get by with using the stock regulator and just use a 4 wire rectifier and mount that and the battery in the air box. Shouldn't need to replace the stator. I'll get around to trying it soon. I've about got Project DS WR complete.

I've got a 3700maH battery in my airbox that I use for the GPS and the horn. Charged it once this spring and haven't touched it since. You can get away from the reg/rec and wire straight to the battery....

I'm trying to get an inspection sticker so I need to wire the headlight to a battery

The problem is you need "clean DC"

Got it; here we don't need the light to come on independently of the motor so it was an easy solution for me. The battery is a Trail Tech unit that I have mounted in the air box. You could then do as Motosportz suggested and wire up a reg/rec. Trail Tech sells one that will work fine for you.

Use a full wave rectifier / regulator and you should be good
