(What I said above on HD being weird sounding, I meant the fact that HD was building a ELECT bike was weird ... Not the actual sound of the bike because I thought it would be just wheel spin and belt(?) slap ... So that was an odd twist of the english language and a couple of words and a little humorous)

    --
This link has the actual sound the bike makes ... Also says it's 2 yrs out from being made ...
    http://news.yahoo.com/video/harley-davidson-unveils-electric-motorcycle-160704295.html

Sounds like HD is gonna shop it around and see what the sales potential might be.

    --

HD might be a good barometer on ELEC bikes sales ... And the 200k (?) plus riders on their HD bikes are not all hard a$$ people. They just look like the hells angels type. Might be some bleed over here. Cost will not be the deciding factor for many of these guys unless the price is just over the top.

If you listen to that sound, it sounds like a jet....Someone is gonna like that sound (if it is real) and buy that bike. Its might just be the new, improved sound... And it will probably be hated also in its time :) and these rockets just might run over a few dozen before someones realizes loud pipes save lives is not all bs ... But then, that high pitched jet squeal might be a savior also ...

It would be ok if they built it with their money not Tax Payer Moneys like many of the other spark cycles.

The government has always help fund new tech in gobs of different fields and is a big part of why we move forward and are innovators. You have to invest in new tech or it never happens. The media has just sold it to us that investing in our people and future is stupid and hype up taxes and spending. We could do nothing while every other developed country provide support to move forward and eat our lunch or we can get the breaks and support from our government and move forward like everyone else. Look at other developing countries and how much the government helps them. And remember that them (the people) is us and thats what "we the people" should get some of our money to develop new tech and be leaders. Electric powered everything is the new horizon and those that invest in the tech will be at the forefront. If and when we get off fossil fuel and stop handing boat loads of money to those that want to kill us this investment will make more sense. Energy and pharmaceutical / medical has always been funded big time as we know this is good investment for our future.

Oh and 50 mile range???? You can't call it a Harley if it can't go more than that before you gotta find a charging station. Me thinks closer to a HARDLEY.

Sorry didn't realize you were a Liberal.
I still like the smell of 2 stroke in the mourning and the thunder of a 4 stroke.
Hope you don't think Gov knows what they are doing.
Take our money to develop it then off shore to produce it.SOS.
"Drill Baby Drill" that's the only future we have.

Where did I say I was a Liberal? And why would it matter? Still good investment for the future. Label me all you like I just believe we are better off with healthy, educated people who are armed with the ability to push things forward for our country and world. I personally am a fiscal conservative, have zero debt, don't buy out of my means, have a healthy savings. So what. The entire road system and rail system was a federal project because it had huge implications to the prosperity of our country. One of many examples of good use of the people's money and i think we can all agree key to out future. We have spent endless money on fossil fuel with tax cuts, research, infrastructure etc. Its just how it works. Tesla car company, who was subsidized by our government just announced they are going to freely let people use their substantial patents for E-cars for no other reason than to forward our position in this market. Cool move and will for sure move the E-cars forward faster. Other countries are subsidising there tech sectors even more than we are and their eating our lunch in some areas. I have no issue furthering our position using we the peoples money on we the people. But yeah, toss labels around to distract from the real conversation, those that are in power love that (divide and concor). Lets point fingers and label each other, that will fix stuff.

As for the rest I am no tree hugger. Own 9 bikes, ride all the time. Hell I drove 160 miles to clear 2 miles of trail last Sunday. My carbon footprint is huge but I have no issues being part of the solution if it presents itself. The next generation is going to be pretty pissed when they see what we have left them for a planet. Someone at some point will need to turn this around. So we can point fingers at each other or we can spend some money to try and move forward to better solutions for our transportation needs. IMHO.

Sorry you feel that way. We have great people in a great country and believe we will overcome whatever issues we have and remain a great country. I know you are a vet and I thank you for getting us this far. Don't loose hope, every generation looks down on the next. Remember the 60's free love hippy stoner generation? That generation turned out all this amazing digital tech we have today. My brother is 9 years older than me and part of that generation. Was a hippy stoner, now is a highly paid software engineer, retired 82nd airborne, and a heck of a person. We have tons of resources and good people, we will overcome. I believe in this country no matter what the media manipulates us with.

Ok so your not a Lib. Sorry if offended you. But it sure sounded like it.
I can only imagine how pissed the Native American Indians were with the Rail and Road systems going thru there land. That I don't remember so well.

Yes your correct we still have a few good people in this country.
Your right again on amazing digital tech we have today, and I have a few of them but keep looking can't find any stickers that say MADE in USA.
And yes I know full well where it was developed and created.

The Carbon footprint that comes out of this country is a pin prick compared to the Carbon Boat load print coming from China where all the Tesla and E-Bike battery's come from and other developing Countries. Whom we give loads of money to only to have them shove it right up are arse.
At one time it was "What can I do for my country" Now it's get in line hold the hand out the Bailouts, stimulus foreign aid packages and Grants are here. Over 17 Trillion worth.
Not worried about Next Generation hell they don't look up from their I-Pad Or I phone now so how would they know what was.

When Joe Chod got his ass blown-up in Afghanistan, I welcomed him back as a Hero and chewed his ass out for not ducking fast enough, and ruining a perfectly good Hummer, thanked him for his service in the same breath told him DON'T go back.
Why? Because the Politicians won't let you WIN. The Old School way was to kick ass and win.
And don't worry the Old Vet's won't allow you to get Spit on.

Iraq 6000,Afghanistan 2000, Viet Nam 50,000 those are the Great people this country had.
Gave back Nam,now Iraq 1 Trillion$ later soon Afghanistan +more$.
Learned it the hard way 3 times in Viet Nam look deeper and further ahead rely on yourself.

First you have believe in God, Family then Country that's where to start.
I've heard that "we will overcome, hope and change" shi& before, So hows that working by the way.
    Thats my IMHO

Those devices have chips in them made right across the river from me in huge multi campus locations. Intel is HUGE in this area. So made in the USA. Nike has a HUGE campus employing tons of people. Beaverton, USA. Microsoft is a 2.5 hour drive north, employs gobs of high level people making the worlds most used operating system and supporting software. In the USA. Sorry I can't see the doom and gloom that gets painted by our media 24/7. Everything in life is about perspective. Back to E-cars, Tesla is in your area, USA.

Makes no difference. And why would i be offended. Its not a swear word or bad. I dont dislike half of my country's people because they have a slightly different view on how to run things regardless of what perspective I have on the subject at hand. I hate when people say this. Half the men who gave everything for this country were part of one party or the other and I bet no one judged them based on a label while they pulled them from the battle field. Its just wrong in my book to use labels to divide us. In the end we all essentially want the same things.

Sad you feel that way. Its a generational thing. Some people just don't understand the change. I have three kids, 10,19,21 all have cell phones and connected like the next kid. All are well adjusted, smart, respectful and know WAY more than I ever did at that age because they have an encyclopaedia in their hand. The answer to any question is in your hand. Yes different than when we were kids but if you look deep enough it is not the end of the world in fact maybe a solution to a lot of things. Social media is even used for suppressed nations to get the word out and make changes. Like I said, its all about perspective and viewpoints. I don't see these devices as evil just the next phase in humanity. My 10 year old can program and is super efficient at using and understanding these devices and has a deeper understanding than I ever could have as she has WAY more available info in a format that is super interesting to her.

Done with the politics. Take care.

Anything that has had its development funded by taxpayers should be available to the taxpayers at cost plus a reasonable profit...let's say 10%.

Oil companies should only get 5% as their product already belongs to the public. They are just pumping it from the ground.

Sadly, the US Govt. is doing it's level best to prevent private companies from doing the real work and basically brought the public land leasing process to a grinding halt. Almost all of the current oil discovery and field development is being performed by private interests on private lands. If the govt. powers that be would actually support domestic exploration, the cost of oil would drop, and supply would skyrocket.

Meanwhile our artificial "dependence" on foreign oil is being touted as the impetus to push hybrid and electric technology on the people as the only way out. Hey, that's all fine and dandy, but the truth is that we have all the oil we would ever need on this continent, but political and environmental propaganda has brainwashed people into believing otherwise.

The truth is that while the govt. is literally throwing tax payer dollars at alternative energy suppliers, electric vehicle start-ups, and "studies" to further their agenda, whole economies here in the good ol USA that supply coal for power are being killed off by same said political motivations.

These monies rarely have any strings attached in terms of performance guarantees, sustained viability of the business that these tax payer dollars are funding, or a mechanism that makes those rare successes actually responsible for paying any of the money back. Sure there's lots of taxes that can be levied, but also plenty of loopholes that make it easy to avoid said taxation.

I can tell you that my next car won't be one made after 1975-76. Paying for a smog cert just so I can still drive my "Green" car after 3 years of ownership and then possibly being forced to invest big $$$ to bring it up to snuff so it passes is total crap!

I could go on, but I want my blood pressure to stay down.

I gotta explain my words here on this post after seeing the previous post ...

It was not my intention to make anything personal about the people in this pic or anyone around the world that rides a HD bike. I do not hold any malice or ill-feelings towards people in general and ESP do not care what you ride or how you spend your money or any other things that are your business. Do any thing you want, just cause no physical harm to person or persons.

I was trying to show the power of advertising or propaganda or what ever you choose to call it.

    --
ELEC bikes are not overly accepted yet. HD riders have plenty said on both sides about them. This pics seems to try to promote and accept this new style bike by using its own internal ~power riders ... Are those people associated with HD of NY? I have no clue. Are they paid actors? Did they walk into the HD showroom at the right moment? Clueless here ... And I don't care or even wanna know who they are ... I just don't wanna be lumped into the attitude of the previous video.

Again, I was trying to show the power of advertising ... nothing else and ESP nothing personal on any level towards any person. I owned a HD ... Kind of funky bike in a few ways and really just a loud, clunky, big heavy street bike.... That is a HD bike to me. They are an American motorcycle success story. I'm OK with any American success story, ...as long as it is actually true.

    --

You can laugh but this can be cause a bump in stock prices ... And in the long run who knows if these bikes are really gonna drive the bike market next 5-10 yrs ... HOG - $70.66

This pic here is a little interesting with regard to the controls ..

No clutch lever on the left side means the front or rear brake control could be added or moved to the left side ...

Note: Looks like the same Gee-OH-rilla sized lever on the bars as my '98 Sportster.
