Well most of you are topping off tanks, kicking tires, and lubing chains about now. I'm know LOTS of us wish we could be there with you. So take lots of pics, have lots of fun, drink a few cervezas and maybe a little tequila and have a safe and fun ride. Ohhh and you all suck, its 8 degrees here now.
Bike is loaded. Truck cleaned out and fueled up. Gear is secure. Extra wheels, tires, filters, oil, even put an extra pair of CR high bars in the back of the truck..... Its gonna be epic! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO
So can someone explain exactly what kind of ride this is? I'm from Illinois and have never been riding west of Texas. What is so big about this BAJA ride? Take it easy on me, I'm just curious.
Really wish I was going! But it came down to a choice between a Landspeed race team obligation in Portland, fixing my TE properly (Sending Les a nice package on Friday!) and spending Valentines Day with my sweetie. It came down to a coin flip as she TOLD ME TO GO TO BAJA. So here I sit tearing down the TE, waiting for the ride reports, playing with the mighty Metro and getting my chores done so I can go bench race next weekend. NEXT TIME!!! Is it too early to chime in about ride reports?
Looks like you intend to be leading the pack and pushing it eh. Hopefully you only change bars for comfort reasons and not swaping out damaged parts.
It's hard to explain, you have to experince yourself to get it, for me it's like going back to 1800's, I keep expecting John Wayne to come riding up. It's dirt bike and dual sport heaven ! you can ride your dirt bike right into the little towns and not get hassled, you can go 100mph. down a beach, an hour later plonk along in the beautiful mtns. It's about basic survival too, no rangers to help with anything or tell you what to do for that matter, you're on your own down there. But when you have Mike and George leading 30+ Huskies through the country....well.. "it don't get no better than that" Watch the movie "Dust to Glory" that will give you a good feel for it. Are you sure you can't get here in time to go????? LOL..... maybe next time. Do some searches in Thumper Talk and ADV. Rider for previous Baja rides, and most definately watch here for our pics and reports, and try to get down there some day, then and only then will your question be answered properly. I'm going to watch Timerider now to myself ready and lie awake all night waiting for the sun to come up. Happy Trails......
I have not been in Mexico since 1984 or 85. This will be one heck of a trip for me. I hope my AZZ can handle that many miles, we shall see! I'll be with the slow group for sure. LOL Wish you all could make it. I'll take as many photos as I can and post up in a return thread next week. Wish me AZZ luck! The rest of you, We shall see you at the Sand Bar in San Felipe Friday evening. Thanks to the HB boys I will be sharing a ride and not going solo. Thanks Guys!
Good luck to you and you're AZZ. BTW I think you'll find that even the "slow" might a few chances to tickle the rev limiter.
hey.. If you want to track me (and the group) in Baja check out http://bcvisin.com to get the link to my SPOT (only link on the page). I'll turn it on on my way down there.
