I've never owned a Helmet cam and I've always loved checkin' out
other rider's helmet cam vids so I figured it's about time I get in on the
fun. The one I think I'm going to get is the GoPro HD Helmet Hero.
Just wondering if anyone has used this one and if it's worth the $300.
I'm a total "newguy" when it comes helmet cams so any feedback
would be appreciated. Jerry in Sac

LOTS of people. both in motorcyling and mountain biking use the GoPro. I'm not aware of any/many who've not been perfectly happy with it.

Go pro has the best video and sound...its a little big but get creative with mounting like under the visor or on the chin bar and you will be happy...

+1 for the GoPro. I didn't have the HD version but I would bet it's just that much better. I've been trying to find a good deal on a HD one for a while. Most articles put the GoPro at the top of the list in comparison test. So easy to use and great quality. Good luck.

    Hey jerbear610,

If you type in Go Pro in the search box above there is lots of reading on cameras.

Good Luck and lets us know what you end up getting.

I see there's a silver GO PRo HD that's advertsed for $179 at Best Buy. Has anyone used that? By the stats, it sounds the same but no 1080 only 720.

I have the vHoldr HD and have been very happy with it. I mounted it on the lower side of my helmet so it is out of harms way. With my track record of crashing head first (lawndart!) I don't think anything mounted on top of my helmet would have survived. It also isn't getting hit by all of the low branches. With the waterproof case I even used it snorkeling in a recent trip to Hawaii - the strap mount fit on my mask.

I've owned both the Vholdr HD and the GoPro HD. The GoPro is built better, has more robust mounting hardware, and has a better quality picture. The only advantage to the Vholdr is mounting versatility. I still own the GoPro. The Vholdr was sold within a week.
