need some info hear please i have a 2010 te 250 and want to up grade to a new bike and was thinking about the 2 strokes as a new ride I DO NOT RACE ....so hear it is i have NEVER riden a 2 stroke before so was woundering if i go the 2 stroke would it be the same to ride as my 2010 te 250 as these bikes need to be reved and the use of the clutch in s/t and to get the thing up snotie hills.... i ride s/t only so top end is not what im after i want low to mid toruqe with low weight 2 stroke would i ride BETTER on a 2t ??? how is the low to mid torque ?? how is the weight clutch work?? my 4 stroke likes to be reved to get the best out of it not a lot of torque low end good torque mid to top needs a bit of clutch work has not much engine braking is light for a 4 stroke please help cheers H.B
I think you'll do better on a WR150..... I have an '09 WR125, kitted with the Factory 144 and riding it back to back with my friends '10 TXC250, it has better low-mid torque. I'll state that mine has an auto clutch and his doesn't, also mine is geared 13/52 and his is 13/50. The WR150 has the same frame and ergos, as your '10/'11 TE250.... but will feel lighter and get excellent traction if you restrain your right hand (Or not maybe?). This was very evident on a very snotty steep uphill, with no run up a few weeks ago..... I started up the hill and just as I was going to shift to second, a stray dog ran into the trail. I had to back off for a moment and then get on it staying in first, buzz sawing up the hill. I figured for my friend on the TXC 250 it would be easier to find traction with the 4 stroke. Not so.... The lack of bottom and flywheel of the TXC250 saw him stuck on the hill. Did I mention he is a better rider than me? There are times the WR150 won't be fast up a hill, but will drag you to the top and through tight single track very well.
Well said. Tried a 09 te 250. Did not work for me. The 150 feels super light and gets the job done. If yoy can, find someone that has one set up nice and ride them back to back to help make a decision!
