So I have an 08 TE510. The radiator fan has never worked like it should. I have been sitting there spitting coolant with it boiling in the radiators without the fan working. I replaced the temperature sensor and the fan relay and it still does not work. I put a switch in and the fan will come on. It keeps blowing fuses though. Any ideas? Without the fan this bike likes to over heat. Especially when using the clutch a lot.
I have the uptite Y, the FI cross over hose and I checked the water pump. I would like to get the fan to work right but will settle for a way to manually use the fan without blowing fuses. Any ideas?

Not sure about your fan issue, but have you tried Engine Ice or similar products? Just a thought.

The only 08 TE I've ever seen boil was one with a Rekluse in beach sand doing 60 mph with 1/2 quart too much oil in the crankcase. I was right behind him in my 08 and didn't boil however, the fan was working its ass off! How's your oil level with the bike standing upright? Also, may want to check your water pump impeller, the nut may be loose thus not spinning the impeller like it should. This had been an issue for several mystery overheaters. Still doesn't explain why your fan isn't engaging like it should.

Boy I would have bailed out long time ago and just bought a new one.

    Check your wiring...any bare ones?

Take the fan off, put an amp meter to it. See how many amps it's pulling.

If it's pulling to many amps...buy a new one. The fuse it keeps blowing is protecting the rest of the wiring on your bike.

mayber a higher pressure radiator cap ie 1.8 bar c/w stock 1.1bar. Also get some quality rediator coolant. Flush the radiator before refilling. I think the flushing mix is 50% water and 50% white vinegar mixed.

I have engine ice, Red line 20W-60 oil, The impeller is good and coolant is flowing. the only thing not working is the fan. I am not much of an electrician. How do I check the amps. Can I do that with a volt meter if it has an amps setting? How many amps is to many?

Try to trace the wires from the fan back. Look at the wires for a pinch or a bare spot. Must have a short. But check the fan to make shore it does not draw to much. make shore you have the right amp fuse in there. Just the things that i would check first.

Either shorting wire or bad fan. Trace the + or power wire back into harness to see if it is pinched or grounding.
Use a test battery (car, bike ) unhooked from bike just battery, plug it into fan let it run for several minutes if it gets hot it's probably bad. Later George

I really want to fix the system. I was alble to determine that it is not the temperature sensor or the fan relay. The fan itself works as well. This leave two places that the wriring goes through. It goes into the computer and the speedometer display. It is kid of weird that it goes through the display since there is no temperature indicator on the display.

My questions is can the computer be programed to change the temperature setting for the fan to come on?
