    Okay...

Need some help and need to have fun.

    Conditions:
    1. Its Husky Centric
    2. Its about purchasing and building a Husky Multi-Tool
    3. Its about attempting to satisfy a mid-life dirt bike scratch I have

    Requirements:
    1. I can put a plate on it and DS it (a ways, not long distances at all)
    2. Want a grin machine when I am done is:
    a. Makes me smile almost as hard as I do with my CRF-270x in the single track with a trials tire on....what a machine, love it in the snot, rocks and roots. Smooth when I want it to, especially when crawling and taking an hour to go 2 miles or so....
    b. Ability to jump on pavement or a fire road and water my eyes if I twist a bit too hard with the right hand, and NOT have Washington's Finest pull me over.
    c. doesnt boil over and barf if I run in tight rocks and roots
    d. Doesnt require the rider to wear 'Depends' if you get it over 60 on pavement
    e. can run 50-60 miles on a stock tank at quick clips.
    f. Play in the open stuff when I go there...even the dunes with the right rear tire.

    Me?
    6'3"
    230 pounds
Les WILL revalve whatever I get
riding racing gosh....almost 40 years now (im 49 years young)
Raced open bikes (MX, CC/HS) for years so HP makes me smile
    Power?
smooth down low in the snot and enough to water my eyes behind goggles if I get heavy on the throttle....but smooth will win every time over monster hit...
Riding, just about everything from a touch of old mans MX, Goldendale GPs, play riding, pavement/fireroads etc....like:
ride local to a spot and hit the trails etc
truck to a spot, hit fireroads to remote legal riding area...and grin.
ride remote, jump on the pavement at noon, run into town, get lunch, touch of fuel, then back up into the woods and snot...

Prefer to leave the bike bore/stroke stock
Love to mod and farkle a bike, but only for function, not looks.

    Current short list?
    WR300
    TE-310/450/510

Mixing fuel is no big deal, if I want to DS for hours I have my 610.

So...what say he of Cafe Swede/Italiano?
    why doest thou say that?
    :excuseme:

A TE 310 or TXC 250 will make you forget about that 270x.
    Tasky's has a sale on 09 TXC 250's. $4999.00.

TXC450 from Taskys with a plate.

    - I find this all kinda funny. I have been talking to you for years about the Huskys and you always seemed interested but not convinced. Now that you got one, you had to have a vintage one and now this. It's a problem, I know, you should see my garage. Looks like the the assimilation is complete.

    :excuseme:
I am a pretty big fan of EFI....but not a hard requirement thats for sure...

What am I getting with the TXC that I wouldnt with the TE and or vice versa?....

    Im all ears....

Simplicity (no EFI), better cartridge forks, lighter weight, more power (very noticeable from the back to back rides i have done), cheaper price. On the other hand nothing wrong with the TE ether and your tinkering spirit and nice writeups would be welcome here for people sorting the EFI.

Have you checked out the new Husaberg's? Man they're sweet, with a not-so-sweet price. The 570 is a pussycat on the wet map. Plus it likes to fly if you do. Don't mean to throw a wrench into your gears, I was really surprised when I rode one. Good luck finding Mecca on 2 wheels!

oh no wrench, why I posted.

Being an Engineer, choosing and research is in itself an addiction
    :smirk:

I have drooled on the Bergs....after I picked myself up off Jeff's tile in his showroom from the full chest shot of the price.

Maybe with the new Bergs coming out so quick with the 390 etc, maybe I can get a 570 for a $5.00 discount....

Hey everything is on the table, as long as it has a plate and drops in the fun quadrant between the CRF-270x and my TE610.

You need to ride a properly tuned 310. My 08 with the Athena 310 kit would smoke the 09 310 that was at Tasky's demo day. I have no problem keeping up with the big bikes in the open yet it feels so much lighter in the tight stuff. Enduro Engineering did a nice article on the 310 and they really liked the bike. Somebody should put together a NW Husky ride so you can sample all of them.

Well I have the 09 TXC 510 and this thing rips! I love this bike it just pulls from idle to whenever you feel like shifting. I have had it on a MX tracks, woods, grass field (drag racing), and just putting around with my grandsons on their CRF50 and KX65 bikes. This thing IMO will do it all and for now my suspension is stock! My only "mod" a kick stand. You like power, look into the TXC 510.

    Well

Sat the 15th At Riverdale is an open ride/play day.

Bunch of Vintage guys are linking up and riding, trading bikes etc.
I will be there with my herd (CRf, WR-290f, XC-500, TE-610)

Having some Pac NW Husky guys show up at the track wouldnt hurt, and even see the True Husky's that started it all...and if youre nice maybe throw a leg over one and get hooked on Vintage (lots of Mag250s, CR, XC, WR from the 70s and early 80s)

the 510 is awesome, huge power. But for a do it all bike it is a handful in the tight. The bottom end bark makes it a wrestling match in anything tight and as you know we both ride a lot of the same type tighter stuff. My buddy got one (Jeremy, i think you met him at Brandon's B-day ride many years ago) and spent all his money taming it with a throttle cam and rekluse and my 450 was still way EZer to ride in the tight stuff. the 450 takes the edge off but still has big power for the open stuff. The 310 is very good as well and will amaze you at what it will do but i bet you would prefer the more low end power of the 450. The 450 has enough to not have to wring it's neck when things get ripping (like a 250/310 requires) and not so much as to be an animal when you get to the tight trails. It is a nice displacement for a compromise / do it all bike. IMHO. Obviously all of them will work.

I second the Berg, what an amazing MC. I fell in love with the 570 after about 20 feet :D

and I do the same thing, I love spending other folks money!!

Okay, neither one of you are helping my life span potential with my wife. :cripple:
    You know that right?
    :p

Yeah I went and pulled all my Berg 450-570 tests and reviews last night, and smoked my internet connection both on the ATT card on the bus headed home and at the house.... :banghead:

If I went to the Berg...Home Safety questions must be answered.
    1. All of the firearms in the house locked up and I control the only keys (wife is an excellent shot, pistol or long gun)
    2. All sharp instruments are tethered in the kitchen with stainless wire/cable with a max of a 5 foot reach.

Thank goodness the dogs still love me.

I had an 01 FX-650 berg and I loved that bike....smooth, handled like a dream and eye watering fast.....so the 'Berg first hit has done its damage...
almost pulled the trigger on an 08 FE-550....

Wonder if Jeff would let me ride it at Riverdale.....

He is too smart for that....
