Just sold my 09 TXC 300 and I am trying to decide which Husky I want. I am 6' 4" and 205lbs. I am 41 and ride the local enduro races in senior b. I also race the winter hare scramble series during the winter. I had an 08 WR 250 so I know what the 300 would be like. Am I to big for the 144? What is the top speed of the 144? I have read nothing but good reviews for the 144. Would appreciate your input.

For having fun on I think a 144 would be OK. But for racing which you have done lots of stick to something with a little more Hp.
JMO. I'm sure others will have other theories.

The TXC was a great bike. Best 4s I've owned! I am just a 2s guy. The TXC is a little Boring and I feel better on a 2s.

That's cool. A guy on a 2008 TXC250 beat me (on my WR250) by 5 minutes in a harescramble yesterday...

you need two bikes a 150 for the fun stuff but when you have those big ugly wet hills its nice to have the tourqe of the bigger 250's to get you out of trouble when you make a mistake I dont think the wr150 will let you do that,Its full on aggressive riding or nothing.
Now everyone has a opinion and take it with a grain of salt.

MOSTLY depends on your riding style skill and terrain.

slower amatuer that doesnt want to keep it on the pipe...hello wr300my 2 cents

I read alot of great reviews on the TXC and thought I would give the 4 stroke a try again. Found out that I am 2 stroke guy. I was never as comfortable on the TXC as I was on the WR.

The 300 feels like 2X the bike of the 150. That's a good and bad thing.
It's good when you want to loft the front end over obstacles or plow through stuff, but its bad at the end of the day when you're dead tired from fighting a powerful bike.

I'm keeping the 300, but I'll have a 150 next to it one day. 150 for the super tight and nasty stuff and the 300 for the more open terrain. They're too different to just narrow it down to one.

I had a WR250, and now have a TC250 and my wife has a WR125. They are all such great bikes. I think I ride the TC250 and WR125 faster than the WR250. I could probably ride the WR125 the fastest with a setup suspension and 144cc kit. Try to get a ride on one and see if you can make the small bike work. I would like to have another WR300 (or other big bore 2T) in my stable to have a bike for all situations.

Might be worth a shot to see if you could test ride both from a dealer?

Maybe if they would make a 200 you could split the difference, like some of us are waiting for?

First thing I did was look at your size and your location. In Wyoming I would say go 250/300. Plenty of places out there to use horsepower. If you were someplace with more tight woods riding then the 144 might be a better choice.

What, you don't have 6 Huskys? I thought everyone had 6 Huskys... Get 5 more, you'll be happier.

Just kidding. Guy Giroux (a fairly fast guy in the Great White North) podiumed his girfriend's WR125 in a recent FMSQ hare scramble. That's at the provincial level (like state level), and there are some seriously fast guy's (like Guy [pronounced Gee with the 'G' sounding like it does in 'good']) in that province.

    Guy normally rides a WR250 or WR300.

The moral of thay story is, if you can bring it, the 144 can deliver it.

Edit... but of course, this is all rhetorical now....

Are you leaving to 'Trials' tire on for now. A lot of people run them. It would be great to here what you think of it before you go to a knobby.

Although if you're ordering from Motospotz you should look at their Motoz

I've got a set of motoz tires that will.be going on it ASAP! I don't want to try out the trials tire. Were moving on to the hare scramble season. Not much rocks, roots or hillclimbs.

Are you pinning that 300 for more than a spit second? Is it boring? lol
