Ok i was going down the road on my 2006 TC250 in 4th gear mid throttle and the motor quit, locking up the rear tire. I was only able to bump start it. Wont kick start. it feels like it has half the power. And an odd new sound. Plus the clutch feels toast it wants to go with the clutch engaged. Before all this happed i put in gas that i know now had some water in it could be the culpret? Or did i go to far in between oil changes?

what ever you do... don't run the engine anymore until you determine what is wrong.. you could make things much worse as in $$$

Sounds almost like a timing chain skipped a tooth, unless autos are different from bikes. I would call the local shop and ask some questions. But really, don't try and start it untill you get some kind of clue as to what it really could be.

have you run both a dry compression test and also what is referred to as a "wet' compression test (where you squirt a little bit of oil into the sparkplug hole before you run the test)?

If the motor shows low compression during the dry test, but more compression during the wet test, it's probably the rings. If it doesn't change all that much, then the valves are probably the main culprit.

The part about the engine quiting in 4th gear and locking up the rear tire does not sound good.

to start, pull spark plug, examine.

with bike on a stand and spark plug out slowly turn over the engine by putting it in gear and turning the rear tire by hand.. listen for unusual sounds and determine if there is any abnormal resistance. If resistance is felt, take out of gear and slowly turn the engine over with the kick start checking for unusual noise and resistance. DO NOT FORCE the motor to turn over if it doesn't want to turn...

drain oil and remove oil filters while checking for odd debris in both

    those are a few starters

    the valves are fine,
its the piston and cylinder that are messed up
so would it be cheaper to buy the 300 kit from motosport or find a piston somewhere? and have a local shop do the cylinder?

It depends on how bad the cylinder is damaged. But now is certainly the time for the 300 kit! You definitely want to inspect the connecting rod for damage. Good Luck. TW

+1 I'm not sure I trust the rod again after that, unless there is a way to accurately verify it is still in spec.

I would buy an igloo cooler and UPS the engine to a suitable mechanic but yes now would be the time for a 310 kit.
