I'm picking up a new WR300 USA spec as I am from NY. I cant seem to find a concrete answer on how to run a headlight, maybe a tail light. Id like to use all LED to keep the load down and the usable light up. Do I need a second aftermarket regulator/rectifier? The stock system (yellow wire?) is AC? I don't have the bike yet so I haven't gotten a chance to tear into it. I don't want to damage any of the OEM electronics because I know this euro stuff is pricey and hard to get. Id be fine with one good LED headlight. What do you guys think?

I have an 07 wr250 and have a poly sport led head light on and it works good. Running through the oem regulator.

^different ignitions(kokusan analogue vs ducati energia digital i believe) keep in mind. ducati not much chop for running/starting with lights etc. as opposed to kokusan. i havent checked but i thought the ducati still ran through a reg/rec?

It has a Reg/Rec on it I believe. I pick up the bike tonight. I'll break out a multi meter and see what's going on in there.

As per the manual it has a 12V 110W generator. Generator means DC voltage right? Maybe thats for aircraft only (Generator vs Alternator) and it has 35W headlight, 3W taillight, 21W stop light, 10W instrument cluster. So if I want the Baja Design Squadron headlight and a simple LED tail I'll prob be ok right? Just gotta figure out what voltage I'm making.

I have read that you need to have the lights "switched off" to help with starting. Do you guys have switched lighting or are the lights hot all the time?

That's with the Ducati ignition found on '11+ models. Mine would normally start one kick, but would be a bear to start if I left the light on.

OK I called Baja designs and ordered the DC kit with all the goodies. I asked for the sII light but in the email I got it looks like they are sending me the Squadron Pro that's the 4 led light that draws 44watts instead of the 22watt light I asked for. Do you think Thats to much of a strain on the charging system?

That's because yours is an 09 and is capable of 55 amps in stock form. Somewhere after 2010 they switched to the digital ignition and I don't think they do as well. The older ignitions don't require a resistor spark plug either so you can run a B8EG or a BR8EG and are extremely reliable. I think this is a case where older is better.

I just bought a 2010 WR300 that has no lights. I've been reading and reading the posts on this forum about hooking up to the yellow wire from the stator. My bike has four wires coming out of the stator: red, green, black/red, and red/white. No yellow wire.
Can anyone please explain why there's no yellow wire on mine? Can I run lights off one of the wires I do have?
    Thanks.

My 2012 wouldn't start w the lights on , make sure the jetting is right , mine seized the top end. Throw the stock clutch cable in the trash , and be ready for back ordered parts...
