Hey Giant Loop Great Basin owners! I've just got a Great Basin bag for my 610, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to tie the bag to the back of the bike. I currently don't have a rack on the bike to tie in on. Are you tying on to a rack, or are you somehow tying on to the fender? Thanks for the help!

I don't have the great basin, but I do have the mo'javi and the Coyote.

I have them on the fender. I have a single link of chain hose clamped to the frame under the airbox on the right. On the left I have it looped around the frame. but it does push on the shock reservoir a bit so I'm going to move it somehow.

I have the GB and the Mojavie should be here today. I got it in the winter so have not used it but test fitted it to my 99 ATK 490. Two clips around the fender and the straps around the footpegs. Seems very solid. No rack and lays across the seat / fender. :excuseme:

I have the Coyote and have it on the fender as well. What did you do if anything near the silencer? Bag doesn't touch, but is fairly close. I have the Leo Vince, so it doesn't get real hot, but does get warm.

I used a regular hose clamp, but I didn't really like it cuz it was too close. Then I got a fancy hose clamp at West Marine. I get a discount so it was no big deal but I think the damned things are $20 normally. I like it a lot better because it's solid, so it 'blends' better and it has that little arm that I can adjust however I like.

If I were to do it over I really like that muffler slider idea:

This is what I made. I got a piece of aluminium and bent it so that it attaches at the muffler bolts then has a 90' bend then follows the curve of the muffler but has about 3/4" gap between it and the muffler. Worked great on a three week trip. I have the Leo Vince which runs much cooler, don't know how it would work with the stock can.

Mine is super EZ to mount to my ATK 490 as it has large old school side panels and a semi standard frame to tie it to. Works excellent. hauls a lot of stuff and don't even know it is there. I'll take better pix but this is about all I have right now...
