hi guys i saw this forum mentioned alot on thumpertalk so thought i would join, i just picked up a 2000 sm 610 with 13000km on the clock for £900. im hoping for some advice on here, anyone know about changing the analogue speedo from kmh to mph? the bike hasnt been started in 3 years so apart from draining all the fuel, fresh oil and filter, and a fully charged battery is there anything else i should do? i live in northern ireland by the way so the names of any parts place in the uk would be handy. thanks
Hi John and welcome to the forum id give the carbs a good clean as for speedo u can buy a converter off ebay but lot hassle id look out for ones with mph or put a digital speedo on it , Or u could get a sticker for the speedo but looks kinda cheap and nasty
Welcome. Enjoy the bike. Maybe you'd be interested in installing a TrailTech type of computer? You can have KPH or MPH. Temp sensor, Tach, etc. as well.
Had a trailtech vapor on my old KTM and loved it. It doesn't cost much (about 130€), has many features, nice lighting - rpm tachometer - water temps - hour meter and many more cool stuff. The only drawback was it's buttery, although when you start your bike it works with bikes battery, it's internal one had ~2-3 months life. The battery costs only 2€ anyway, you just have to set the time again etc. I may buy one for my husky too sometime.
Thanks guys, was hoping I could open the speedo somehow and just out stickers on the inside of the glass. I have time before its going to go on the road so I can strip down the carbs and give them a good clean, might just put a new cam chain on too wile I have the tank n all off. Ill probably be on here a lot looking info, I'm a mechanic but more at home on a large Diesel engine. Thanks again.
John : I'm a Scot, living in England with a TE630. A lot of things I've found for the husky have to come from the US, but there's a few Husky specialists in the UK. Drop me a line if you're looking for anything and I'll see if I've got a UK reference to it.
That's great thanks. Would you know where I might get a rev counter? The large capacitor has broken off inside mine, I'm going to try and solder a new one in first though.
