Do we have a thread on this yet?

Looks like I'm picking up a 18K TE610 tomorrow and generally have confidence in the motor but was wondering what the group history is with getting high miles out of these motors and what work needed to be done and when.

    What say you?

Gent that goes by Oaxacuzano over on the ADV 610 thread posted this back in June. Made me feel pretty good about my old beater (4K miles now).

    Fuel pump

The fuel pump of my TE610 is no working any more at almost 5 years and 64,800 Km (40,500 miles)
I check the original module and cost $ 606 dollars, too much.

I found only the replacement ( the motor with impulsor ) at $ 70 dollars

Cam chains and clutch basket springs are the only things that wear on the 610.

22,000 miles and still going. One cam chain, clutch cup washers replaced twice (second time with hardened cups). Clutch actuator arm replaced once (cracked and bent).

What can I say... how do you get 40,000 miles on a 610 in only 3 years?
He is always on his 610, even when the weather is really crap, like snow. I don't think he even owns a car.

Don't forget the bushing for the clutch assembly. You get the "honk" sound when they going. My bike has been through two of them. 21,000 miles.

If you use the APE manual adjuster the Cam Chain will last much longer

Exactly. I've had my 610 just as long but I split my dirt time with my WR165, and my street/commute time between my SV650 and my Terra.
In that time I've put almost 30k on the SV and over 7k on the Terra.

My original cam chain lasted slightly less than 4k miles. The OEM one I replaced it with has been wearing beautifully in the ensuing +18k miles.

I was going to add that you're in the same league! Riding all the time, racking up those miles.
    An inspiration to us all.

I ticked over 50k miles this week. :)

My cam chain needed to be replaced at 19k, that's all I've done other than run the valves when they get noisy. This winter, I am, however, going to treat it to a refreshing (bearings, a couple noisy trans gears, and the countershaft splines are worn more than I like) while we do some minor "power-upping."

LOL. Until I find a sidecar candidate bike and build a flatbed hack, I need the cage to haul my dirt bikes around with ;)

Wait...what? You've got 50k trouble-free miles on that thing (well, probably 58k by the time I finish this post...) and you wanna go messing with that by doing a little "power-upping?" Dude...don't do it. Get yourself a Tuono V4 if you need more. Seriously.

So, uh...what exactly do you have in mind for this power-upping business? I'm just, you know, curious...

I know, I know...But since we'll be in there freshening things up anyway... [devilhorns]

Well, Bill has this box of goodies back in his Skunkworks that would make it a true 600cc...We measured, compared, fitted, and found that the HSP 530 cylinder will fit on the 610 bottom end, but a 510 head would be needed as well as some other minor things (upper rod bushing, likely custom cam chain and exhaust). I was halfway thinking of building an Eddie Seel "replica engine," cos THAT would be pretty cool, but Bryon helped me talk myself out of it for longevity reasons. So we're probably going to go the HC piston, cam (maybe TC610 cam if it doesn't already have one in it), and some head work route. I reckon if we can milk another 5-8 hp out of it where I want it to be I'll be pretty tickled. A bulletproof 60hp bike would be just fine with me.

20,000mi. and change. One counterbalance key (.85cents), og. cam chain a couple of clutch bushings, and lots of rear tires baby!! Remember, when in doubt, refer to post #11 in the 610 Love thread....
