    Oh, good grief...

It's obvious that your neighborhood/commute is much too dangerous for you to be riding that 610. Give me your address and I'll come on down and pick it up:D

Seriously, though...so glad you weren't seriously hurt, and the damage to the bike looks pretty minimal. Small price to pay for a killer story

Be sure to post up some pics of the black and blue ankle. If it's "good" enough I'll put you in my Theater Of Pain

The closest I came to hitting a deer was kicking one. I thought "What the heck, I'm going to get killed anyway, so I might as well kick the dang thing." When my foot came out, the deer leapt up and twisted back away from me, just enough that her body brushed my right arm and shoulder. Luckily, nobody got the poop knocked or scared out of them, but the people who were following me on their bikes thought that I would be a goner for sure. My hands were shaking all through our rest stop at the top of the mountain and I think I had a bunch of fresh grey hair. I guess trying to get in a last shot might have saved me.:notworthy: Otherwise I probably would have "felt your pain!"

Glad to hear you walked away from it! That is my worst fear come true besides encountering a vehicle!
    Take care,

Wow: really glad that it wasn't more serious than that. Hope you and that beautiful new bike get healed up real soon.

BTW did anyone else have an image that involved leather, flash momentarily across their brain when they read this.

For the love of all the lovely Mormon lady's, .....YOU JUST GOT THE DAMN BIKE A WEEK AGO --> :banghead:

Your wife handled it nicely, mine would've got pissy with me

Heal fast Mr. palmer, fix the stallion and get back on it
Chances it'll happen again are slim :D

Eric would have been pissy because it would have just generated more work for him...and he works on my stuff all the time as it is. Luckily the last time I threw a bike down the road I only messed up the bars, ruined my camera and ground the zipper pulls off my pants and a buckle off my Alpinestars :D

Ok guys and gals 1st off, Thank you all for the "well wishes" but I gotta say, "muddy, I hope the chances are slimmer now, the bike is actually a month old but with 430 miles on it." I was just telling George if I had the power up kit on it I could have punched it and the Doe would have run behind me. :D
Woodschick and rajobigguy, can I change my username to BAMBISLAYER....:lol::doh: pun intended.
Nice Vid, Troy. That guy could have lost his head!
    Great manuver Dirtdame.
Thorton98 "Stace" I hope I never encounter the vehicle verses bike. ;)

    Thank you all,

closest I've come to hitting a deer on the TE was a 6' long Eastern Diamondback 2 weekends ago at the local riding area. He was right in my line. Had to take it hard to the left through hardened chewed-up ATV ruts. Got my boots up as high as the bars and pinned it. Both of us escaped unscathed, but my rear bumper got pretty bent up from sitting on the seat going through those ruts at 40mph.

We got so many rattlesnakes down here, that I come across them all the time in warmer weather. We got red and green western diamond backs, speckled and sidewinders. I'd rather try to avoid those guys than a big ol' deer.

I've got an interesting story about rattle snakes, bikes, and trials tires for the next time around the campfire ... but the punch line is - trials tires are like big marshmallows and do not hurt small animals.

In any event the worst accident with a somewhat good outcome that I know of is a sport bike slicing a deer in half on highway 35 (skyline blvd) at 100mph. 2 years in the hospital as I recall.

    Whew...glad you made the effort...

As a snake keeper..I hate to hear about them getting killed....

some people view them as "natures little speed bumps"

The only time I harm even a venomous snake is if it's in the back yard trying to play with my 4 & 6 year olds. I make my best effort to relocate critters if they're causing a problem, but a dangerous critter that doesn't want to cooperate gets the "we'll do it my way then" treatment. If it's gotta go, it's gotta go, but even a rattler has a place in this world-especailly in the middle of the backwoods well away from small kids. If there is a way to get along they're more of a help than a threat. There's no sense in killing something if you can avoid doing it with a little effort, even if it's a poisonous snake. I learned a long time ago that they don't want anymore to do with us than we do with them. It's best to share the Earth with the critter and let him do his part to help keep it spinning.

Now venison on the other hand, is a totally different story. We live about 6 months out of the year on venison around my house and my wife and kids can't get enough of it. It helps balance the local ecology, keeps the deer herd healthy and keeps us out of the meat section for a good portion of the year. That's some darn fine eatin' right there if you don't mind doing a little dirty work.

If one runs out in front of me and trashes my bike, I'll have jerky to munch on while I'm in the shop working on it! Save a cow! Eat venison! And for goodness sake, never waster one that has been freshly Husky'ed!

Rattler killed my dog (daughter’s dog) at the community center last year. They have no place in the community. In the hills it's different but in the community, they will always be killed first, ask questions latter.

    Nuff said.

Because of the Arnica my ankle never turned black and blue. Still a little sore but I am good enough to go on the Husky Monument ride on Sunday the 24th. See ya all (that are coming) there.

Glad your ankle is on the mend. After discovering arnica, it is always in the fanny pack or back at the car, these days.
