I rode Cody's '09 TXC 250 today. A lot In fact. I couldn't stay off of it. It is a COMPLETELY different bike than my '08 TE 250. Much lighter feeling, more flickable, better power delivery... a MUCH better woods bike than my TE. So, alas the quandary... I think I like it better than my WR 300.

I need to sleep on this.:eek::eek:

that really is a fantastic model and I was anticipating a post like this. Anytime I posted the TXC was a much better off road bike than the TE everyone gave me a hard time and said they were virtually the same bike. they are not. The 450 and 510 is the same thing. The TXC's are awesome off road mounts.

I wish you would stop talking about this bike, I am starting to get that look in my eyes again and my home equity account has a zero balance. These are indeed dangerous times.

Then do not look at the all new 220 pound EFI 2010 version :D

Trust me, I was not expecting the TXC to be vastly different than my '08 TE 250, but it is.

I have the best of both worlds...a TC with light kit and spark arrestor insert.....I wired the live output wires from under the tank to come out just behind the numberplate..and also to the rear subframe ...

the regulator I mounted in the front lamp assy/plate holder.....with quick connectors

from MX track...to the trails....just plug it in...:D takes just a few minutes

problem is that WR125 is too much fun....and I dont ride the TC as much as I should

and no I havent tried to start the sucker with my hand.....:smirk:

I have both 08 TE 450 and TXC 450. I swapped the forks, and the TE with TXC forks is awesome. A lot of the differences in handling between the two models is the different suspension. There is also the weight difference, steering head angle TXC( 26 degree) and TE (28 degree),carb vs FI, and the different cam/timing. But I was surprised how much better the TE was with TXC forks. The 2010 models will all share the same forks. I think that should help close the performance gap.

Ok.... thanks Krieg now you did it! I was sure my next bike was going to be the WR300, now not so much. And Kelly the big picture of the 2010 TXC 250; that sure muddied up the waters. So now should I get the 2010 TXC 250 or the WR300 that I was sure I was going to get. Krieg what do you like better on the TXC 250 over your WR300? Now that you and Kelly have confused me (which isn't very hard) help me pick the right bike. Thanks, John.

The 2010 TXC250 is going to weigh less than the WR300, have smoother power and turn better. I would also guess the stock suspension will be better. It is tough choice but the TXC is a much more modern design. now if husky ever gets around to redesigning the 2 stroke motor and stuffing it in the TXC frame watch out.

Skywalker let me know when you want to try my 08?:D I don't think there is much diffrence in the 08 to 09 TXC250.
My 08 TXC has been lowered an 1" and all re valved and re-sprung by WER.
It sure did chew up Moss lake ST, Bay City lake, Birch hill and Foreman Lake trails just fine last week. The only thing that slowed it down was ME.

A new 250 2 stroke in a modern fram is what i want .Seems a lot of other people do also.Because the # 1 question i was asked at a motocross race this weeken WAS how do the Husky hold up
Seems these people all had 250f time bombs and were looking to replace them with something that might last longer then like 20 hours
My answer was if i can get 4 full years of desert racing out of a CR 125
and i just pulled the hole shot against all the new 450 4 strokes
on a old 2006 WR 250 bone stock then the Husky 2 stroke is tuff.
Take just about every other type of off road racing other then full on motocross and you will see a 2 stroke up front
Plus what type of bike is leading in endurocross lets see a old 2 stroke motor .You guys in the east or the north west see alot of 2 strokes but
out here in so calif they are rare .
I thought there was nothing better then a CR 125 but now a new 250 might just happen .The old 250 i got was just to test the water
and first time out worked better then i thought

Good feed back guys looks like it will be the WR300, no the TXC 250, no the WR250. I do like the simple maintenance and the feeling of I won't be spending money on head repairs on the 2-strokes. I just had such a ball on my 08 CR125 Husky this Sunday it makes me want more. Now..... I want to make my own 2-stroke using a WR engine in a TXC frame?

Txc for mx and single line fun.

Reddog, work is tough, I am reopening my vet track sept. 20 at my place. I have not ridden on the track in two years and it will have to be mowed? The last time is was used was a fundraiser for kids with health problems. The WMA was out in force. Sarah Whitmore put on a mx school for kids. (it is a vet and kids friendly natural terrain style track) In attendance was Ashley Floiek when she was 13 and I could see she was going to be a star, she is a friend of Sarah's. I am just inviting my old riding buddies (and I mean old) and their younger off spring. It will be a trail ride on the track for me as I have not ridden dirt this year. I would like to test your bike and you can ride the 510. Crappo Creek trail is about 7 miles from my house and It links to Big Bear. Single line with old fart mx. I am on vacation starting that sunday and could line up a ride on monday also. Any Cafe Husky member is welcome. Keep in touch Reddog.
    Keep in touch.

It made a big difference going to the SHOWA TC on my TE, and pulling the offset back a bit. I guess the TE has a little lazier geometry than the TC / TXC's.

With what I've been through with the TE, I wish I'd got the TXC instead. :banghead:

But, I think the WR is going to work out for me. If everything goes as planned I'll try it in a race this weekend.

There has to be at least one real fast guy flying the 125 flag!!!

..... at the risk of being banned for life ... If your gonna try a 250 you should at least check out yammie yz 250, lots of off road racers in the east/northeast swear by them.

Don't fall for the whole 300 thing ... I got my gasser on the premise that it would be a 3 stroke. big bore juice like a 450 but light weight of 2t. Lots of grunt to tractor my slow old butt through the tough stuff. If you are mortal it really is way too much juice for the woods. If you ride a lot of cart/woods road or open/powerline type stuff they are fine. in the tight technical rocks and roots that throttle can be a hand full!! If my 125 experiment doesn't work out, then I'll be on a ktm or gas gas 200. A 250f may be a distant possibility. I'm pretty sure I'm done with the big bore stuff though

Thanks skid but I won't get any KTM me and them just don't get along; they feel "weird". I don't do any really slow crawing and if I did I agree any 300 would be too much. I would take the little Husky CR125 for that. I like light weight now that I have my CR I just want a little more. Hey K that chain on the wrong side don't scare me LOL. I will look at working around that if I ever see a WR 250 or 300 in real life. Heck then I might get to ride one and think the bike is good as it is.

Why does everybody want a 250 in the new chassis so bad? You really think the present one is that much better?
