Hot start button to leaver conversion

Has anyone done this? if so could you help by advising what parts you used and possibly post pics

Thats too funny, I just said that yesterday when I was out riding. My first thought is to use the decompression lever as the actuator, make some sort of bracket that bolts to the carb and/or motor. Thats as far as ive gotten though....

Haaa, well I read about it somewhere but I dont recall seeing pics. May have been in the DirtRider write up for the GNCC setup bike. Parts arnt much good without pics of how to install the thing

Your idea sounds like a great starting point.

i just finished this,
i used a ARC hot start lever that mounts as the back part of the bar clamp for the magura clutch perch, i had a custom cable made and used the KTM kit at the carb end which has a 90 degree bend so it doesn't protrude out where it can be hooked on anything.

Is there any pic for the braket mount on the carb?

mine didn't use a bracket to mount on the carb, the plunger screws in on the same thread the red button plunger assembly uses and the 90 degree bend in the cable just sits there, the rest of the cable is secured to the wiring loom where it runs against the frame towards the headstock, then turns behind the top triple clamp and mounts to the back of the magura perch.

Is it actually a KTM part that you use on the carb then?

Dr D has a kit also. They dont have the Husky listed but one of the others should be able to be adapted.
I have installed one on my yz the older models didnt come with one.

Yeah, the handle bar lever is the easy part, I just cant picture the pivot braket on the carb.

What year bike do you have? There shouldnt be any pivot bracket on the carb. When you unscrew the red hot start there will be a plunger on the end of it. The new cable will have the same thing but a metal elbow and a threaded nut that screws right on.

These guys appear to make some nice ones that would fit our application as well. Now I just need to find a cable with a ~90* bend in it at the carb.

Call it what you may... but it's cheaper than a cable and lever, and it keeps me from fiddling with the knob on the carb.
