    Hi All,

what's the best gear for hot weather riding? Looking for pants specifically.. best compromise for protection vs ventilation.

also, do you think this outfit would be ridiculous?

underarmor hot gear bottoms, boots, kneepads and shorts like this?

Klim Baja pants and Mojave jersey have been great. I wear them over a forcefield Pro jersey w/armor and Virus 3/4 compression pants Room for some knee pads as well.. I think this years model has Velcro waist adjustment so more versatile fit. They have an over the boot model as well...

Anything in the color white or gray is for hot weather ... If you purchase black to wear for hot weather, well, just wear it :)... The rider himself is the best protection going ... At least this rider falls into that category.

I use Klim gear also and catch it on sale and the ~$200 pants will be ~$100 ... The over the boot stuff helps protect the boots and at my size, I just open up the buckles on the boots and put them inside sometimes ...

See that huge zipper on those Klims on the thighs? That ventilation goes a long ways on cooling ... I don't really need that on my white colored Klims, but it 100% saves my other pair that has some black spots mixed in with the gray color.

The Baja shown are fully vented and those zippers are just pockets but the Chinook model I have has long zippers just above for ventilation. The pockets are perfect to stow a smartphone and a map for ready access.

Seeking thoughts on a different approach. Looking for some protection and keeping cooler. It gets hotter in the summer now than it did 40 years ago. ;)

I have a pair of textile pants with knee and hip armor. Very hot!

Have worn the textile pants with a set of padded football heat gear. And a drug store slip over knee support.

What are your thoughts on a pair of cotton pants, the padded football heat gear and knee pads that slip over similar to the knee support I wear now?

I do not think cotton is very good material for heat and moisutre transfer..I do wear padded shorts though..
