Help! After being in a storm, my rear brake started to "rattle" like on/off. So I figure maybe it's the caliper needing to be cleaned. (any other ideas?) But I looked around and couldn't figure out how to take the rear caliper out! Seems like nobody has this problem, and I couldn't find anything in the shop manual.

So how do I remove the rear caliper on SM610 for cleaning?

You have to remove the rear wheel axle, because it goes through the caliper support.
I'd like to post an image of mine for you, but I've just found out that now you have to have a premium account to upload images on imageshack.:( I must find another site.

Slide the axle out, set the chain off of the sprocket and then pull the wheel and caliper to the rear together, there should be enough slack in the brake line.
Once you get it back about 4 inches, the caliper bracket will be out of it's slot in the swingarm and you can pull the caliper off of the rotor and leave it with the bike, then pull the wheel out.

Is it going to need two people to put the wheel back? Thanks guys.

Nope, just get the wheel up and close, then slide the caliper back on the disc, and put the whole thing back in together. I us a foot to support the wheel when getting it lined back up for the axle.

Don't forget to loop the chain back over the sprocket before you put the axle back in.
