Without a fuel indicator it's pretty hard to know when to fill up on an outride. What kinda fuel consumption do you guys get on a full tank of premium gas? I'm in NZ so give it to me in metric units.......litres/100kms etc. The big claim by Husqvarna was fuel consumption – Fuel consumption over 100 km at constant 120 km/h was 4.35 l/ 100 km. Also, heard figures of fuel consumption over 100 km at constant 90 km/h, 3.2 l/ 100 km. The 14-litre fuel tank is probably a good size for this bike. So a quick calc would indictate that we should achieve about 437.5 kms on a full tank of gas @ 3.2 L/100 km and 322 kms @ 4.35 L/100 Km. So in theory if I fill up and zero my trip I should be comfortable travelling +\- 300kms before I have to refuel. That's 187 miles. Is this correct? Is that more or less what y'all achieve!?
The Husky figures are bollocks. I get good milage but nothing like they say. Mixed open road and gravel I consistently 290-320km (as best) until light comes on, from there I have 60km left until I'm walking. I used 95 Octane, no less. I use the consumption indicator, it works really well, the tank holds 15.5 from dry.
I reset the trip meter every time I fill her up and the light comes on at around 300km. I do ride a lot of highways so 100km/h or above and I use Euro 95 (which is 95 RON not 95 Octane). Can someone explain how the consumption indicator exactly works? It gives you the amount of km's traveled with the low fuel light on right?
I get around 4.5 l/100 km around town (mixed suburban and freeway) but have a AF-XIED installed therefore enriching the mixture a bit.
I've got my "S" button on the handlebars and I can see exactly, at any time, how much fuel, range and my consumption. And like it's been said before. The consumption indicator is spot on. I've run my bike dry twice and yes it takes 15l. When with a group, bike does 4.1 l and when along, anywhere up to 5.2 l
I can confirm that the consumption indicator is spookily accurate. the Terra will do 300km easily. Mine (and my gf's as well) uses between 3.8 and 4.2 depending on riding style. Ran dry once after 375km. Furthest I have gone without running completely dry is 385km.
I have swapped out the standard 16 tooth front sprocket for a 15 and l still get from 4.3 to 4.7 liters per 100klm, depends on how l push it, majority of my riding is at 80kph., am going back to the 16 in a week or so.
To display consumption used, scroll through the dash using the S button until a number with the letter 'L' or 'GA' ( think) is displayed. That's the amount of fuel used since it was last reset. To reset, hold down the 's' button until it shows O. Do this at every refuel and it will show the the amount used since the last refueling/reset. A PITA but it does work. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/fuel-gauge-reading.33993/
If you scroll through the options on the dash with the S button, you'll find the consumption (which shows in gallons or litres how much fuel the bike has consumed). It would be handy if this reset at the same time as the trip meter automatically but you have to do it separately. As someone else said, it is spookily accurate, and 90% of times when I refuel the exact same figure is shown on the fuel pump, (and the other 10% it will differ by 1/10th of a litre). My low fuel light comes on sometimes as early as 11.5 litres are used and sometimes not until 12.5 litres are used. When I'm riding I flip between the trip meter and the consumption to keep tabs on my consumption and always calculating my usage, but it is usually very stable at about 4.2-4.4 l/100km and therefore a range of 325km with the backup buffer of the also reported extra 1 litre in the filler neck. The indicator you mention is the Reserve counter (It shows the letter R and the number of km), and it starts counting the number of km travelled since the fuel warning lamp came on. It will automatically disappear after about 2km of travel with the fuel warning lamp extinguished.
On a recent group ride through the mountain roads of the Pacific Northwest, I got 3.36l/100 Kilometers. This was using 95 octane ethanol-free gasoline on a hot day, with occasional stops for sight-seeing. I routinely get 3.6l/100km. I don't ride slowly, but I am pretty gentle on the throttle opening and usually shift at around 5 or 6000 rpm. I also find the fuel consumption indicator on my Strada to be exactly correct. I've gone as far as 350 km on a tank with a couple liters left. Road riding only, no off-road. My Strada is pretty much stock engine-wise, and I've always been delighted with the way it runs.
The fuel consumption on my bike use to be spot on but since PCV install w/auto tune I am off by about a half gallon last few fill ups.
mmmm on my bike I have to go by the km i have done. the fuel usage on my bike is off by 3L each and every time. By km's ridden and at the pump. e.g full tank 14.5L zero both trip and fuel at every full tank at the servo from new off the show room floor. fuel usage tells me i have used 7L of off a full tank but pull in 10l (what the fuel pump says only use Bp PULP 98 from new) so there is a 3L differences and on our bike thats about 75-80km more ride time.
Every time I have ever had fuel go "missing" like that it is because the battery has been disconnected and the trip/fuel have reset back to 0. It would be possible that you fill up, reset the gauges, consume 3 litres. Park the bike, the battery is disconnected and the meters gauges again, and then next time you ride the bike you consume 7 litres and go to the servo and fill up with 10 litres. Well,. it would be possible if it happened occasionally.. but every time since new ???? If the battery is low on juice, even cranking the engine to start it might be enough of a drain to reset the gauges to 0, but it would probably reset the clock as well. Do you have a problem with your clock not keeping the right time?
