• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How to remove weights from handlebar?

I've got the weights off, but I'm stumped as to how to remove the threaded inserts in the bar ends. Just trying to install some cycras in the stock handlebars. Thought I'd put it out to y'all before I bust out the hack saw. And if hack saw it is, how much do I have to cut off?

Per BigDog, just drill and tap the ends of the bars to fit the Cycra bolts. :)

That's the best way cuz they're welded threaded ends. Or drill them out to the I.D. of the bar.

If you are going to start cutting the ends of the bar, start with a small amount 1/8"-1/4". If you shorten the bar to much, you might have to cut the ends of your levers off (balls at the end) to make things fit.

Thanks for the info guys-- I am limited with tools, so I went looking around at the moto shops in town... and ended up with a 7/8 protaper handlebar with lots of rise (it is made for an atv apparently), but it solved two problems (and was on sale for $35): No welded-in threaded inserts to deal with, and eliminated the need for bar risers (for me). I think I'm now using all the slack I could get from the clutch cable, but it works, and I got the cycras on. I've got pics if someone wants to host them. Anyway, good on 'ya for adding some information to my situation. It helped me decide what to do...:applause:
