I have an old husky SM610 yr 2000 & the coil is shot.. I get a reading one way but not the other. So there's a break somewhere in the wire.. no probs! However I cant seem to find a new ignition coil for my bike, as it's old. Seems my coil is 70mm whilst they only sell 55mm & 80mm. So I need to know what the resistance is between the 2 readings.. and hence my question. I got this from a manual I downloaded offline = "Remove the fastening screws, the ignition coil then measure the resistance in the primary and secondary windings using a tester. - Primary winding resistance: check for the continuity. - Secondary winding resistance: 5,0÷7,5 KOhm a 20°C (without spark plug cap cable); 10,0÷12,5 KOhm a 20°C (with spark plug cap cable) If the resistance is not between the specified values, replace the electronic coil. Also, check the resistance of the terminal cap contact with the spark plug. - Terminal cap resistance: 4,5÷5,5 KOhm a 20°C. If the resistance is not between the specified values, replace the electronic coil." So is this saying the resistance should be between 5.0 - 7.5 or should I be dividing 5/7.5 =0.6 ? Or am I missing it completely.. ?? Basically the local bike shop by me sells coils, which he says are pretty interchangeable providing I know what the resistances are.. so what are my resistances ??
