Husqvarna Rally Team by Speedbrain got off to the best possible start in the Pharaons Rally, the final phase of the FIM Rally World Championship. The team's riders came in first and second in the first stage of the rally that begins today in Egypt and continues until 6th October, after a 330 km (205 miles) race from Giza to Tibniya. Joan Barreda dominated in a high-speed stage where he was able to get the maximum out the fantastic engine that the TE449RR by Speedbrain is equipped with. Barreda imposed himself on the race finishing more than five minutes ahead of his team mate Paulo Goncalves who marked up a fine second place. Goncalves has proved himself to be both fit as well as fast, finishing more than a minute and a half in front of Jordi Villadoms. Tomorrow's stage looks forward to 347 km of desert and dunes.

Joan Barreda: “I'm really pleased with the way it turned out today. The stage was really fast and the bike really helped me, especially in the last 50 km where I was able to get an advantage thanks to the great engine. Tomorrow I start in first place and I'll have to make the most of it. ”

Paulo Goncalves: “I got away well at a great pace. I took care not to make any mistakes and tried to increase the advantage that I had over Villadoms which I managed to do. I'd love to always race like that to be able to achieve my goal which is a podium place and a finish in the world rally championship in second place. Tomorrow's stage will be really fast with a lot of dunes, ideally suited to our Husqvarna TE449RR."

Wolfgang Fischer- Team Manager: “It really was a great start! We are at our first Pharaons Rally and we got a fine team result right away. Joan was giving it some! Finishing five minutes ahead in such a fast stage really is an amazing result. ”

F'ing great ... Keep the pumkins and all other brands in the back seat please!!

I lov it when Husky spends money on the equipment to increase performance and hires a top rider ... Just like a real race team with winning as its goal :) ... Then, like a miracle, a Husqvarna machine kicks a$$ ...

Dont kid yourself it aint Husky its the Speed Brain team, its the way 99% of all machinery/teams are going. Satellite minimal factory participation.
Use MX/SX team JGR as a reference, or Rinaldi MX Yamaha team as an example, these are both "official" Yam programs with very limited factory support that develope and build their own "works" racing parts to keep their team up front. Then use the car racing teams from all the series with some limited exceptions (Ferrari F1 for one exceptional example, both chassis and engine)

Speed Brain Rallye--- add a little Monster Energy and voila a competitive G450/TE449 Rally conglomerate wholly developed into a competitive Rally machine in haus in Bayern.

Right, all these 'race teams' are doing the same thing to some degree with equipment and $$ .... And at the end of the day, some brand name will get credit ...

Today, in the sands of Egypt, in the shadows of the great pyramids, this speed brain team with some resemblance of Husqvarna hardware under these great riders a$$es, is winning and #1 ...

Long live whoever the f..k spends the $ to put the Husqvarna brand in the winners circle ... Because that is what it takes to win on the national and world levels of racing at this point in time ...

    Joan Barreda is first
At 29 years of age, Joan Barreda has achieved the first important victory in his young rally career (two years long), riding the new Husqvarna developed for the Dakar. He now looks like the natural heir to countryman and 2012 World Champion Marc Coma’s (absent from this year’s Pharaons) throne in the coming years.
For Joan Barreda, always focused, careful and reserved, this victory is just what he needed with two months remaining until the Dakar, reassuring his good chances for success. Instead it was a solid second place finish for Jakub Przygonski, who rode quite consistently (one stage win), but slightly slower than his Husqvarna mounted rivals.

    A post I just found:

Excellent 2nd place from Chavo today, just 51" behind Goncalves. He said his top speed was limited to 130kph in the sand and that Paulo ripped past him like he was in reverse. He needs more power, like HRC supported power. Chavo was very happy with his own speed during the rally and said he had no trouble keeping up with Ullevalsetter.

Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain wins Pharaons Rally 2012 - Joan Barreda makes history for Husqvarna.

It´s an inaugural victory for Husqvarna at a desert rally. Joan Barreda is the winner of the Pharaons Rally 2012 in Egypt. The Speedbrain pilot emphasised his exceptional talent by taking three of six stages during the race held this week from Monday to Saturday. Barreda finished the closing stage in fourth position, as his team mate Paulo Goncalves owned the final 425km from Tibniya to Gizeh. "Speedy" Goncalves tried whatever he could to make up for his navigation error from yesterday´s stage, but the Portuguese couldn´t re-gain enough ground on his rivals Jakub Przygonski and Jordi Viladoms, therefore missing the overall podium of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship.

The mission for Barreda meanwhile was to control today´s action from the front. The 29-year-old was riding a tactical stage aboard his Husqvarna TE 449RR by Speedbrain. Barreda could rely on a lead of more than 17 minutes and didn´t need to take any risks, bringing home the historic win in a calculated manner.

Overall winner Joan Barreda: "It´s been a phantastic performance and I´m overjoyed for Husqvarna and the Speedbrain team to take this legendary victory. My TE 449RR by Speedbrain is a dream in all situations. Amazingly fast, well-handling and totally reliable. A big thank you goes to my team and to the mechanics for their hard work and this superb bike."

Stage winner Paulo Goncalves: "I´m happy for Joan and the team. To win this traditional race is a major feat. Obviously I´m disappointed having made that mistake yesterday. I did what I could today, it just wasn´t quite enough. The team is great and I´m certain we will achieve further more down the road. My congrats to Jakub and Jordi for landing on the world championship podium."

Team principal Wolfgang Fischer: "Unbelievable, awesome - I´m extremely delighted for Joan and the team. This win is a milestone in our young team history. Paulo missed the world championship podium, but we took the vice world title in the constructors championship for Husqvarna. We worked very hard at this rally project and were able to form a winning package in little time. I´d like to thank the BMW Group and Husqvarna for their first-class cooperation. Ultimately it has also been Monster Energy, all our sponsoring partners and our super-fast technical suppliers who made this success possible. We´ll have a party tonight before we´re starting to look towards Morocco, where we will be lining up from next weekend."

Yup, this is a great result. The bikes look like they work very well.

I hope Husky / Speedbrain can keep both of those riders - they could be the ones to unseat the "aliens", and get onto that level.
