Husky tr650 fuel filter

Greetings from Durban South Africa. I had an interesting problem when I swapped out my fuel filter with a new after market filter. The dimensions are identical but when installed the bike farts and splutters like it's starved of fuel. I replaced the origional filter and she idled fine. Anyone know if the OEM filter is a "special" filter?

It may take a bit for the air to work through.

I ran it for 2 days and no improvement so I removed it and replaced the original.

I installed the K&N PF-1300 filter and it's working fine, better than the aging OEM.
