Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some answers on a problem I am having with my bike. I recently snapped the motion-pro 10-0123 clutch cable and replaced it with the same one. Only to notice the cable was a tad short, so I could only use it without the adjustment screw at the clutch lever. After I installed it like that I pulled it 4 times and it felt like something snapped. At this moment I cannot engage the clutch anymore. It happened to be near the clutch actuator arm, which I can now move freely and even fully remove by just pulling it up. Should this even be possible? It doesn't look bend or broken. I guess my problem is somewhere near the clutch itself? If so, any idea where exactly or should I just open the clutch? Thank you!
Clutch actuator arm is known problem. Mine just bended and came out in one piece, but it sounds that yours is in two pieces if you can lift it out with clutch pushrod still in.
Thanks for the reply, ceevu. I was thinking that first as well, but then the arm doesn’t look broken or bend as can be seen in the image.
That looks ok. then you have something wrong in clutch side. Pressure bearing would be next guess. I believe you see what is wrong if you open clutch side. Pressure bearing is needle bearing,so if that has broken, dont run engine before you find all needles...
I took apart the clutch until I reached the clutch nut, which I don't have the tools for to extract. Nonetheless, I didn't see any broken parts. Number 48 (https://shop.italhusky.com/en/products/2009/sm-te-610/primary-drive-clutch-63) I could easily remove from the assembly, but I suppose that is normal. In the end I fiddled around a lot wih the actuator arm and the fork tube. Didn't seem to work at first, because the clutch would engange half of the time but after removing and inserting the arm multiple times everything suddenly worked. Even the clutch cable was the right length again. My guess is that I maybe pulled back the actuator arm too much when I was installing the clutch cable and something was positioned the wrong way? Thanks anyway for the suggestions! I hope it stays like this.
