Hello, I just bought husqvarna te610e 1999 supermoto (model with electric starter), I had to rebuild it a bit but the rebuild is almost complete, and that made me wondering, what oil is the best for this engine. Manual says that its 5w40 but various forums is talking about 10w60, so I am pretty confused. Maybe someone can help me out?
Huskies usually recommend 10w60. However I find it is more dependent where you live. I live in a warm to hot summer climate with a cool (can be cold) winter but not too extreme. All the chaps around here use 10/40 fully synthetic. I am happy with this, however in your case and unsure go with the 10w 60. Maybe chat with a good local bike shop and or some experienced riders and seek out their recommendations for your area. Good luck.
I have a 2000 SMS and use 10w60 exclusively. Bike has 47000 kms, no issues concerning the oil. Temperatures around here go from -1°C in the winter up to about 36°C during the summer. Some member here mentioned that 10w40 is a bit too low for these engines, but I don't recall where I read it
