  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Ice cream cone exhaust

old3

Husqvarna
AA Class
16 FC450, long after these bikes have returned to dust, the one thing that will remain for distant future generations to study and debate will be the double ice cream cone restrictions in the FC mufflers.

SXF has identical requirements, and dimensions. A simple task to fit the same mufflers you would think. So why did they even bother to add these frigging things???

An hour of hammering with pointed bars and a length of steel pipe and they finally fell from their spot in the can. What a pita! No way to get much in there so it was butchery and just trying to not puncture the perforated tube.

Stock light didn't pass thru the tube. WTF? The SXF makes 1-2 HP more at every spot on the curve from 5,000 up.

I figured it was getting a new take off SXF CAN OR FMF if I messed it up. Thankfully it finally balled up and it all broke off. Tap from one end, then flip it over and repeat, puncture it, bend it, repeat. Tough as nails! I hope they used this grade material on the frames! Hahaha!

5 minute idle reset and it's no louder than stock at idle, lacks the cute tweety tweet it had though. Open it up and it's more beefy, still not loud. Mine is a CC bike anyway and isn't near as bad as the stuff they let run in the woods so no worries there.

One tip, don't tap on the end cap if you can avoid it. I got a tool jammed in and had to, and it will leave a cute dent.

their is an easier way to remove the cone, remove the muffler inlet end cap, slide off the packing, grind the 2 welds that secure the cone, lightly tap the cone and it will fall out, reassemble in reverse order

I took it halfway apart and said F-it! I hope to never do another as I've done six sets of KTM 950 can decats too and they suck even worse but that can help the next guy. You can grind those welds from the outside of the core tube?
