I just finished a great trip to Idaho! We were riding outside of Featherville. Great fun and my Husky ran great, even at 9400ft! Iron Mountain is the first picture. It was just a 25 mile loop Then the big ride, 64 miles around Soldier Mountain! And I never had to switch to reserve! I was concerned that I may run out of fuel, but my bike could have gone 80 miles or more I think!! Getting up to the high country was tough though, I really struggled on some of the switch backs. Then once up high, the temperature dropped and it would be somewhat chilly. So we had on our big jackets I hate that stupid jacket! The weather was perfect and my TE 250 worked great for me. We ran really low pressure in my trials tire so it could get good traction on the loose stuff. Then a stop near Fairfield, with my Husky tired and dirty, but ready for more!!
Looks like you had a great time. I just got back from some mountain riding too, and had a lot of fun. Thanks for posting.
2nd pic looks like the little lunch stop spot where you come up onto skyline ridge. That smoky dome loop is a nice scenic ride, and probably the easiest one in the area.
Yes, that sounds right They took me up "Little Water Creek" trail to head twards Atlanta and I only made it halfway up. I also rode up "Skelaton Cr.", didnt care for the deep water crossings Once on top, it was worth the effort! I think we came back and turned on "Skunk Cr." The guys rode some tough ones it looked like! "Black warrior", and "West warrior"? I thought? The trail went right up the river, literally! Then I guess it climbed forever back out of the valley. Too much for me!! They took videos and pictures as well.
i thought they put up a bridge over the first crossing on skeleton. Our club worked on the approach to that bridge 2 years ago. I saw a bike get washed away downstream a few years ago crossing there. Glad you enjoyed your visit, but please pass on to your friends NOT to ride up little water gulch. Yes, a good rider can make it up, but not without tearing up the trail. Every year, out-of-state spodes try to ride up that trail (very popular since it ends right at camp) and the trail takes a real beating. Knowledgeable folks use that as a downhill only.
Have to say the TE looks prettier than the berg or the kawa. Great photos too-love your rig. Thanks for posting.
