Ok ,taking the sidestand off to weld foot attachment..anyway undoing sidestand bold thinking the nut on the otherside was the end off the bolt ...sheared off the end . Trying to locate another bolt and nut . Found a "legacy" OEM listing http://www.ktm-parts.com/OEMFINDER.html Pts 7719788 & 9902745 May need to find compatable bolt and lathe it down and re tap the end. I hate breaking things on my bike. Any ,ideas , miracle purveyors out there ,thoughts (non personal ,I already know........sigh) And I live in Australia..the place spare parts avoid!
Checked all OEM sites.... bolts didnt look compatable Its the little threaded section at the end that holds the switch that separates BMW from Husky...for all 650 models and any other BMW 2012 up. Its what you do at night in semi panic mode.
The bolt is going to be so hard that it will be difficult to cut threads with a die or even on a lathe unless you annealed and hardened it again. If it isn't hard it won't last long in that application IMO. But it can be done.
Maybe looking for a cheap option until I can source a OEM bolt to drill the end and force a self tapping screw in..red thread lock++ .It only holds the switch against the sidestand ..the real job of the bolt to hold the weight of the side stand shouldnt be affected... Now if only I could find some bailing wire and gaffer tape I could increase power output of the engine by 15%... That will need to wait.. Thanks for replies.
That does not look like the correct bolt. I was looking for specialty bolt and can be found online, you will need the dimensions. Or you could just disable the switch as many have done. I forget which wires need to be connected after you cut the switch off.
If you are sure that is all it does then I would get rid of the kickstand switch. I hate those things
A ton of parts are from the G650GS series, but I have found a bunch more parts from various other models too. FWIW when I am looking for parts the first thing I do is an internet search with "BMW" then the Husky part number. In this case its "BMW 7719788" Low and behold.....it looks like the side stand screw off the 800 series is a match. http://www.bmwmcchattanooga.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=191434&ukey_product=1041475
Its a wrap and definite..Just replaced sidestand etc. Will try to get it into compatable parts. Thanks again the Ogre in Florida.
