My oil light came on at 429 mi. the oil level is fine. Does this mean to change the oil? How do you shut off the light?
Time to get it to the dealer for a warranty claim...if pressure is low, bad problems are ahead if you keep riding it.
It an 06. No warranty. Got plenty of compression. Doesn't blow smoke. My battery light is on too and it starts fine. It's due for an oil change.
The little oil can symbol is just a timer that is adjustable by the owner (in Larry Belli's case was probably adjusted by the previous owner...) that help you keep track of oil change, same thing with the little wrench symbol, one work on mileage count and the other on engine hours...don't remember which is which but both are adjusted manually by the owner As far as I know we do not have a pressure pick up to gauge loss of pressure on the 610's...
Oh...you mean the little oil can symbol. There is a way to get that to turn off. I forget what the trick is...but I found it with a google search. It's NOT in the owner's manual. Searching...I found this... OIL WARNING LIGHT: Hold the MODE button down, turn on the ignition and continue to hold the MODE button until WS appears in the lower right of the display. Release the MODE button and cycle through the setup screens to the oilcan. Press and hold the MODE button until "----" appears. Release the MODE button and you will get a screen with "NO, clear?". Hit the MODE button and you will get "YES, clear?". Press and hold the Mode button. Release the mode button and the screen will read 035 (I assume this is the oil interval in hours) . wait until it cycles through 035 (or reset it to another interval) Turn the ignition off"
Muddy & Contra, thx. I've only had the bike for a week now. The manual doesn't explain much. I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow for 1st oil change. I bought the bike from a private owner, but the dealer is nice about service. $30. 1/2 for oil change. 2 quarts of Amsoil and filter $32. How many RPM is the top of the verticle bar? I try/tried not to go past that while I'm breaking it in. There are no #'s for my tach.
Breaking it in? 06... shouldn't it be broken to million pieces by now? How many miles do you have on it?
I bought it with 150 mi on it. It has 430 on it now. I put close to 300 on it this week. Did a 90 mile run yesterday. It runs great, but I don't know how many RPM I'm riding at. I try not to go past the vertical bars...The manual says not to go over 5,500 RPM during break in.
Oil and tires were changed. I like the tires. They're Dunlop Qualifiers. The same tire that's on my Street Triple.
A 06 with only 150 miles on it...how in the name of everything that is holy can it be.... Well anyway, the black button on the left side of the speedo under the "N" light will do the trick I think your choices are between a clock, lap timer/stop watch, total mileage and the RPM readout BTW, the "missing" button on the opposite side, under the turn signal light is a red light that will flash rapidly as you hit the rev limiter, it too can be adjusted to come earlier then the cutoff point Another BTW is that the oil change is very easy to do
Thx Muddy. The bike came from Ferracci in Phil via Daytona Beach Fla. I got it off ebay. I'll give the tach a try. Only took me 2 days to get it to read MPH.
Circus, I hope you're wrong about that. I got 8,000 miles on the Q2's on my Street Triple. I'm on a 2nd set and pushing 10,000 miles. No lie!!
Get to a dealer and get the Shop Manual on CD, about 15.00, that will tell you how to change settings in the dashboard..... When you reset the "wrench" icon, I had to set it 9999 or it kept coming back on. If you don't have a tach read, you are in "battery Check" mode which is cool too, cool little bars that tell batt. condition. If you want the tach., Make sure you're in Batt check mode. Hold mode button down for about 8sec. until you get a little "ws" blinking in the lower right corner of the screen, then pull the high beam "trigger" 5 times, then let up the button, then scroll through the screen and the tach should show up. That is the method to add and remove screens. Oh yeah, get the CD and practice... this is too much for me to type...... have fun......
