Just have a question. Been riding a kdx for years but always wanted a husky. Finally got my hands on a 04 cr125 and love it so far. Only problem is when I get it started it doesn't want to idle.

carb likely needs cleaned. does it idle low or does it idle normally then die out? whats the problem with idling?

Sorry was sending from iPhone and didn't finish. It just doesn't really idle at all. Tried adjusting screws with same result. Figured it needs cleaning but didn't wasn't sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Remove the carb and give her a really good cleaning. Also, she's new to you, might as well grab a new air filter, plug, and change the fluids... At least then you know you got the simple stuff outa the way.

sounds like your pilot jet is plugged, common issue with bikes sitting for a while.

Thanks. I did clean out carb and jets thoroughly. Changed plug gas oil and switched from k&n back to a foam air filter. Got it to start again and rode it after a little finagling and it's fast only problem is at idle and slow speeds. Air and idle screws have no effect. I'd really like get jetting dialed in. Never had too with my keihn equipt kdx and have no practice. But husky is a completely different beast. I'm at sea level and not much more and ride south jersey trails and sand, if that makes a difference. The little bit of riding I've gotten a taste of is awesome. Can only imagine when it's "working". Any advice it's greatly appreciated. Thanks

Where did the previous owner ride? Perhaps it's jetted for higher altitude. Also, how did the PO ride? Was it just a track bike, or did they woods ride with it? If it lived most of its life at aMX track, then it's doubtful the guy cared too much about anything other than midrange and top end, so it may never have been set up for what you're doing.

Plus, going from a KDX, to a 125mxer is a big difference. The 200 is made to cruise at slow speeds and not stall. The 125 is made to be wrapped around all day long in the power band.

You may just need to change the pilot to suit your riding style.

I live in south jersey where it's mostly sand and trails once in a while a self made track. I bought it from a guy who lives roughly hr away. His son was gonna use it for hare scrambles but was too much for him. I actually just pulled carb blew out jets again and adjusted float again and changed plug. After a bunch of kicks choked with throttle open. it fired up and stalled. Fired up again and bogged out. Turned choke off and it started with puff smoke. Almost seemed to idle for bit then rpms went little higher then slowly bogged. Didn't touch throttle. Could it be my mix? I'm using Sunoco 94 with Lucas semi synthetic@32:1. Says you can run richer and not foul plugs. Always used in kdx but much different bike. Thx
