Indiana is a new stop on the Nationals race schedule ... I know these guys are PROs and well beyond any riding most any of us can even dream about, but this is a new track these riders will see this week. No one will have any advantage gains from previous racing on this track ... With these PRO riders, it might be a total non-event also but something to be aware of for this important race ... -- A few words from the PRO riders on the subject http://www.mxlarge.com/2014/08/16/ama-nats-rider-comments/ EDIT: Its a mud race so all bets are off
I gotta add that from looking at the pics and the racing I've seen so far, there are lots of race fans in Indiana
Great race,to watch anyways.I was going to this race, goofed my back up,not walking so well.Good to see a nat in the midwest.
Great event! Great track. The weather sure through a wrench into things. The timing of the rain allowed many aspiring pros to make the main. The first timed qualifying "450B" practice got to go out on a clean dry track before the skys opened up. Quite a few regular qualifiers were them eliminated as the A practice went out on a rainsoaked track. I can't recall this happening since timed qualifying replaced the elimination motos. It was an excellent demonstration of just how much better the "elite" of the sport are, as compared to the next 25 or 30 guys. The Elite's looked solid and aggressive, if not doing all the big jumps. Everyone else floundered.
Looked like it would have been a cool track if it had not rained. I thought it made for some pretty sucky racing.
Really? I'd have to assume you didn't see the second 250 moto then? Total barnburner...... I like a good mud race thrown in to every series......
Yeah I feel the same way. I understand why I could be less fun to watch but I think the coolest part of outdoors is stuff like this can happen.
Remember Daytona some years back,Reed in the lead, his bike stalled and kdub took the win, epic mud race IMO.
Windham was on a prototype honda jet ski for that race. Only time in sx history that a jet ski has won.
The 250 motos are always better, IMO. Tend to be more wide-open. And, throw in two flying Frenchmen and things gets way mo-bettuh!!! Jesse Nelson, I thought, was going to go 1-1 on the day, then the lead changed....and then it changed again....and then it changed another time. And, once Mighty Mouse got out front, that seemed to light a fire under Superman and it was on!
Seems like they shot off the fireworks for the wrong rider at the finish and Kdub saw it while still on the track and thought someone else won the race ... He found out later he was the winner ... (CR22 lost compression ) ~Epic and real mudd race, ESP for SX
