    FE = 4st Enduro & FC = 4st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Is it time for Husky to build the FX?

All 5 riders on the Husky Factory Off Road Team are on FC's. I'm sure some of them are massaged with XC-F 6th gears, etc. It would be nice to have all the features... kickstand, 6th gear, big tank, 18" rear wheel, lighting coil of the KTM XC's in a Husky! :oldman:

No not until they have a fresh idea. The xcw and f get to claim a difference because they combine two lines (linkage and wr). There needs to be a difference other then a plastic subframe. Coming out with a fx line would make 2/3rds of their lineup a copy.

I get that.... European off road racing.... KTM and Husky will continue to race highly massaged Enduro models, so there is a big distinction between PDS and linkage bikes. US off road KTM will race the XC-F or SX-F models, Husky will race MX bikes at the Factory level. Husky Support Team Airgroup, run TE300's, but the are converted to more XC 2T spec. The PDS bike doesn't make the KTM Factory Team at all in the US.

No Husky FX will drive the sale of their MX bikes and not steal KTM XC sales. Maybe this is what they want. I do know more than one rider who was on a white Husky TE or FE, who wanted a the new Austrian 250F and went KTM 250XC-F because they wanted an off road, not MX bike.... KTM's way of keeping Husky sales in check!

I get it, like the xc-xcf line myself and can see people jumping ship but are they really? Still a sale regardless. They need something just a little different. They need to be able to take more from japanese and other euro brands or hell, just give ktm riders to buy it.

It could be as simple as the fx comes comes with lights. I don't know, just something to change it up some. I get that they'll mix and match what they already have, it's smart business. They've already built what they feel is the best, why bother making a second bike that no matter what, one will be inferior.

With all the air fork stuff going on, hopefully they keep spring stuff in huskys. That will be a big enough change between brands

As far as them not building so they can push mx bike sales, makes sense to me. I was really surprised when Tomac was open for bidding and KTM let him go to kawi, would have been podium finisher for husky and possibly a championship

The Husaberg FX450 was enduro bike converted to XC.... close ratio gears, no lights and 19" rear wheel, to be different from KTM XC-F.

American off roaders are never invited to be part of the focus groups that determine what models we get. They get most of their input from race teams that can get whatever they want and have the tools and experts to fabricate anything else they desire.

If KTM/Husky was really interested in giving it's customers what they want, they would do something along the lines of Build Your Own Beta.

Beta can do that because they're small. Xtrainers aren't on byob because the demand is to high and they can't keep up

Husky/ktm give customers what they want. A ton of models made for each market, advertising, bike tests, frequent updating/redesigns, and pro racers to follow. There's a reason the trails and local offroad race lineups are orange. At the end of the day they are a big company the reinvests a ton and need to build things to see a return.
