Made in Italy by Husqvarna based on a Cagiva design from way back.

Yup Italy. Same as Ferrari, but the Husky small bores would beat up on Ferrari regarding reliability. Quirky would be a tie.

I was just curious what made you think the motor was made by KYMCO ? But as the others have said, they are made in Italy and I think they are good motors.

Perhaps the KYMCO thing came from the 449/511 engines that, as I've heard, are made in Tiawan. Somebody heard that Husqvarna was outsourcing the engines of 4 of the bikes and, bam, all Husky motors must be Tiawanese made. I'm sure that engine will be no more with the merger.

I am no longer afraid of things made in Taiwan. I have been in to bicycles for many years now and some of the best components come from there.
Even the carbon fibre frames on top road bikes and mt bikes. China ans Taiwan. The adds with highly skilled American workers hand crafting a carbon fibre frame in the USA are a laugh!

It didnt bother me to know my TE engine was from Kymco.

I love my Husky,,,why didn't I get one sooner?

I said the same thing last June when I bought mine.

The 250/300 motor is dated but its very refined no electric leg and an ass of a kick start
I've had a ride on the berg and the KTM 300 thay really have nothin on my husky 300
My husky 125 is awesome as well
Think I might have to get a wr125 and a wr300 and put them away for when the ones I've got now are worn out(20yrs time) and then I'll have 2 brand new bikes to wear out when I'm 60 LOL
