Okay, i know the question is a bit stupid, but i found this today under my bike, and it doesn't look like oil nor gas. Actually, it looks like oil, but it smells like gas, and i can't find any leak anywhere on the motor. Any tip where to look for leaks? Any common leaking problems at 610's?
Check the underside of your shift lever, it might be your shifter seal. And on a bike with miles on it, oil starts to smell like gas after a bit.
Checked shift lever, it's seems clear. I also started the bike and left it idle for like 10 minutes, no leaks. I came at work, ~3 miles, still no leaks. I believe (and hope) it's gas from somewhere and leaks when the bike is on stand position, that little pool was not even slippery.
Half of it seems already evaporated if you look closer to the pic. The stamp i guess is just dirt which cleaned with the leaking gas ..(?)
Could be, where do you have your tank vent tube running, and do you still have the little green relief valve in that tube?
On the lighter side; better watch out for your 'buddies' you ride with, oldest trick in the book. 'Let's pour a little right here and see what he does'
The whole bike smells like gas today, so i'm pretty sure that there is a gas leak. I saw gas yellow stamps at the on-off-reserve switch, and the carb seems dry too. I'll get off the plastics in a couple of days to see whats going down there.. RDTCU, i'm not sure about that valve, i'll check it out.
Well, somehow i managed to f**k it up again. If this bike had hands, it would slap me. I removed the plastics to check for leaks, nothing found, i had some time to kill, so i came up with the idea to remove the right engine cover to clean that little glass which helps to check the oil level. I destroyed the gasket in the process, and because these gaskets are not that easy to found around here, i used gasket seal. I know it's not wise, but i had tried it to my old ktm many times without any unpleasant surprises. Not this time. When i closed it, refilled it with oil and turn the bike on, the gasket seal was mixed with oil (which became white). I shut the engine down immediately, and drained again that destroyed (and pretty much expensive) oil. Lesson learned, i will try to find a gasket and close it properly, the question is how do i clean the engine now from gasket seal leftovers? Should i buy some cheap oil and change it a couple of times in a vary short period, for example after 50Km or a working hour?
Did you not give the sealant time to set up? If it's in little pieces, it will just end up in your screens and oil filter.
That's were I found pieces of gasket seal after the mechanic had applied it between the two halves crankcase some months ago; they were excesses sticking out of the two surfaces. It's never leaked. I used gasket seal on the head cover and I gave it the time to set up and it's never leaked either.
Okay, i'm desperate. I installed a new gasket. I have changed oils 3 times already, and all i get is this: Why is this happening?
Is it coming out like that right after you run the bike? What oil are you using? It looks like it's just foaming. Let the oil you drained sit for a bit, it should clear up.
Yeap, it becomes like this after a few seconds with the engine running. Is this normal??? I used agip 10W60 the first time, and then i used cheap semi synth revoil for testing. Tell me that foaming is normal. Plz. Do that!
Foaming is normal, especially with cheaper oils, and it will settle out if you let it sit. But check your radiator to make sure you're not losing coolant into the oil somehow.
Radiator seems pretty clean. What bothered me from the beginning is this. But when it sits it becomes normal again, leaving the foam (?) at the top.
With the bike on the side stand, running, you won't see much if any oil in the sight glass if it's got the proper amount of oil in it. If you stand the bike upright, with it off, it should hit about halfway up the window, and it will take a few seconds for it to get there. For me, that equates to two full quarts of oil.
yeap i know, i was talking about that white color. I'll run it like this, and hope it's just foam. Thnx all!!
