I understand Trooper Lu may be taking up a Yamaha ticket. If so this usually means surrendering an existing makes lisence. It would be good to know what is happening here as we may be running out of Husky dealers in Sydney with Northside up in the air at present.
Northside is also out of Husqvarna as they couldn't agree to terms with Paul Feeny Group, who subsequently withdrew the franchise. Apparently the Husky equivalents to their KTM counterparts were going to be priced at about $400 a bike more, which Northside saw as a problem. They also thought Husky buyers bought Huskys because they didn't want a KTM & their inherent maintenance schedules & reliability issues, so weren't sure how the new ones would sell given they were essentially rebadged KTMs. Northside also recently lost their anchor brand, Ducati, to Frasers (I think), who are opening a city based store. So Northside too have recently taken on Yamaha as their main brand, accompanied by Triumph. Which leaves the questions: 1. Who will be the new Husky dealer/s in Sydney? 2. Who would want to be a dealer when you can spend 20 years building a brand & have it taken from you just like that? Rough old game.
There are two dealers in Newcastle that are both Yamaha and husqvarna dealers currently. There are also two ktm dealers. With PFG losing distribution rights to husky, the WA automotive holdings group (current ktm importer in WA I think) has got it now for Aus and maybe NZ??. No idea what it means for current dealers now, I will get it from the horses mouth this week when I will see them. My feeling was that they will remain one but I will clarify.
I have to agree with Northside's decision. To be honest, after my cr165 is bagged out. I'd sooner buy a ktm than buy a more expensive ktm with husqvarna plastics.
The first video features the owner of Northside, Carl Blecher, who I had a good chat with last weekend. He's a good bloke & dirt bike fanatic, so I hope his new deal with Yamaha works out. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526374&page=154
R&D Husky in Emu Plains is still on board. Rode with Hans Applegren on Saturday and his son Stephan will continue to run the family business. They are good folks and were the original Husky importers into Oz before Feeney.
I knew about this for a little while, but I didn't think Justin wanted to make it public. As far as I know the deal is done with Yamaha & signed off. The offer was way better than the offer from Husky.
I find it hard to believe we won't end up with a Husky dealer closer to town. As good as R&D are, I don't have the time to travel that far for parts & service. Husky's website currently lists only 4 dealers within Sydney, 3 of whom are no longer, leaving just R&D at this stage: Northside Motorcycles 335 Pacific Highway ARTARMON NSW 2064 02 9439 3549 Trooper Lu's Garage 3/80 Heathcote Road MOOREBANK NSW 2170 02 9602 3773 On Two Wheels 304 Queen Street CAMPBELLTOWN NSW 2560 02 4625 7518 R & D Husqvarna Unit 2 116 Old Bathurst Road EMU PLAINS NSW 2750 02 4735 4410
Are there any "Husaberg only" dealers? They might make the switch. As long as they don't sell orange also.
Trooper lu lost the husqvarna franchise so i go to emu plains penrith just look it up he does the lot there serviceing etc.
Troopers Lus did not lose the husky dealership, They got a way better deal from Yamaha. So they signed with them instead
i was very happy with husky imports, now r&d. very unhappy with the way i was treated by trooper lu's & pfg in regards the many warranty repairs my 2012 wr 300 needed
R&D is now the only Sydney region dealer listed on the Husky Australia website. Hard to believe this is the best representation they could secure if they want to drive the brand and business. No offence meant to R&D, rather dismay that there is just one dealer for a city of 4.6 million people? Crazy.
Just another reason why QLD (Brisbane) is better Call up Sutto's and Highway Performance Bikes and see if they'll be selling white after they run out of blue bergs. http://www.husaberg.com/au/dealers-service/dealer-search.html#search=region
The only reason Boogie and that will be temporary, just like your hold on the "State of Origin" (I hope).
