Some people want to skydive for a thrill....I would rather do this! A little differently though. An open road with no traffic and a motorcycle capable of 200 mph! View: http://vimeo.com/53551115
super cool video. I would love to go see that some day. One of the legendary races that I has interested me since I got into motorcycles.
The IoM TT has been on my bucket list for some time. Almost got the chance to live in London for about a year back in 1995. As part of the agreement, the contract had to extend through the IoM TT so I could attend. At the last minute, a new CFO put all new projects on hold. FML I figure within the next 2-3 years I'll make it.
Agreed! I rewound that bit a few times just to make sure I really did see what I thought I saw. I am glad you all liked it. I am dyin to see it again, but the hotel I am staying at right now has horrible Internet access and it would take about 3 hours to watch it.
Unfortunately, no. Me and the wife moved to the hills and didn't bring cable TV with. I bet I can find some clips on YouTube. NR, shouldnt you be online looking for the best deal on plane tickets to the IoM instead of yakin here!? You'll get some good deals if you start looking now for May tickets.
If ever you get the chance you must come over here and see it!! You'll need two weeks to get the best experience and if you can bring, borrow, steal or beg a bike you can ride the track with one way traffic and no speed limits on the mountain section!!
Thanks! One of my best friends sent it to me and I was incredibly excited about it and thought some of you here would enjoy it as much as I did. I only recently discovered your company Colo moto. Nice products, really nice in fact. Do you have a store front I can cruise my new Terra down to and see your stuff in real life when the weather warms up, or is it primarily online order?
I love it! If that doesn't get people excited about going, then there is no hope! My buddy that sent me this video married a woman from England and brought her and her kids over here. He is half English as well and we have been talking about a trip to Norway. Norway may have to wait! This would be a cheaper trip too. The extra cash may help with the begging part.
That is really an incredible location for racing ... Don't think I'd be sitting there on the side of the road but there must be place somewhere it is safer to view some of the laps ... That headshake or what ever all the twisting and shaking of the bikes was out of this world ... Not sure how those guys can continue to push the speeds knowing that might happen ...
The road the track runs on is more or less closed for 2 weeks, the locals are used to it and most will be out watching the racing, it's been happening for 100 years and is a massive source of income for the island. Until a few years back they used to have 'Mad Sunday' where anyone could ride the entire track on any bike with no speed limits but there were too many deaths hence why it is now only permissable on the mountain section. Still the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world.
Thanks. We don't have a store front, just a machine shop with phone or online sales. Not sure if you have ever been to La Jara or not, but it is a very small town. Around 700 peeps. There's 5 Husky's in town and 3 are mine. haha. We will have to get together when the weather warms up and hit some trails or road. I also have a Buell xb9r.
Wow...good stuff! Love the TT! I have a few friends that have been racing it for years, old road racing buddies of Eric's. It takes a different mindset to race the TT, for sure. There are so many little things that really stand out in this video...it's cool to see Rossi handing over the trophy. The corner where there is no guardrail, the massive save at 1:23, the bike being filmed through a handrail on a concrete set of steps. The gal crying as she hugs her man...not knowing if she'll ever get another opportunity...that tore my heart out. I know how she feels. The on-bike footage with no soundtrack other than a screaming motor gave me goose bumps! I used to imagine doing the TT when on the Sunday Morning Ride in Marin County If you guys haven't seen it, you need to pick up a copy of The Road Racers. It's an old documentary from Ireland done for public television and made with public funding. It chronicles the struggles of 3 young up and coming road racers (back when the "road" in road racers really meant the road!) that are trying to make it big. They're from Armoy and are called the Armoy Armada. There's really good footage of the NorthWest 200, too, and it's just awesome. One of my most favorite films ever! Oh yeah, the 3 unknown road racers are Mervyn Robinson, Frank Kennedy and Joey Dunlop The footage of him loading his bike onto a fishing boat from the dock for his first-ever trip to the Isle of Man is great!
That was killer! I have watched this race before on tv and there's nothing else like it, would love to see it in person!
I went to the IoM TT back in 1998. Would love to go again some day, hopefully with a bit better weather. It was a cold and soggy TT that year! I DID get to see Joey Dunlop win his race, so that alone was worth the trip. http://www.iomtt.com/TT-Database/Events.aspx?meet_code=TT98 &era=5 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_Dunlop
ohh gutted half my family libe in port erin, i see it most years and the offroading is awseome as every one embraces the tourism cus it keeps the isle going. out of tourist season there are often rally stages around jurby or the southern 100. its a brilliant place and well worth a visit. but steam packet bump up the ferries around the tt. of course you could go to the manx gp same curcit but in september and alot quieter its more locals racing. still intense though.
