It was a good Husky day!

Just got back from looking at another 85 Husqvarna WR 400 (twin shock)...The guy had it listed locally on Craigslist for $500.00...The owner, a 72 year old retired firefighter, said it ran fine and that he last rode it at the Michaux Dual Sport event on August 9, and that he had been running enduro and DS on it for the past 8 years. Well it was a bit out of the way, but I just couldn't resist and had to go take a look...And yeah, it's a little tired looking, and has KX front forks and a disk brake, but all in all it's a good solid bike...Started after several kicks and reved out and idled just fine...All the lights work, no leaks from anyhwere...The part that really makes this good is that he is throwing in the following items:

Extra engine (turns over)
Extra Frame
Extra shocks (I think he said that)
3 motoplat ignitions
set of forks
set of wheels
Enduro roll chart
manuals
and other undisclosed Husky items

I'll pick it up Saturday morning and begin the teardown just soon as I get home...I've never done this, but I'm going to redo this bike on a budget: $450.00...I've got enough 83-85 twinshock WR parts that I know I can pull this resurrection of without going over budget.

I'll post the before and after pics as I go along.

That is one heck of a day! Congrats. New bike in the garage w/ spare parts is always a good. Post up your before and afters. Always cool to see what others are doing.

with all the extra parts sound like when this one is done your going to have to get another..Kind of looks like you have a problem the first step is admitting it.. Looking forward to seeing the progress...

Well boys, the bike his home and safe and sound...What a great day...Cleaned off some of the gunk for the strip down tomorrow...Put a fresh plug in it and fired up on the second kick...I think I'll be able to definitely resurrect this bike for under $450...A little skoalman love and some elbow grease and I'll make her presentable at the very least...I'll take some pics tomorrow...One more thing, you're not going to believe this -- Right before I left the guy said "wait a minute I gotta go get something outta the house for ya'..." When he came back he presented me with a box, and in it was a brand new upper and lower ignition kit, flywheel, stator, key, coil, and a manual...I couldn't believe it -- and yes, it's mini 6 motoplat ignition system for a 400...good stuff man, good stuff!

Skoalman, good for you.. got to get the XC175 home now. sitting in pittsburg.

Thanks man and welcome aboard. Congrat's to you on that 175 -- that's a rare one and you'll have to get it out some of the AHRMA Nat'l events for sure.

Not sure, was listed for $1000.00 . It was in Pittsburgh. Had a friend pick it up Saturday night for me. Hope to have it home to start resto in a few weeks.Want to get it ready for next season and ISDT reunion ride.

Skoalman, just talked to Jemco. He is going to build me a pipe and silencer for the 175. Probly get the bitch ported also.

Motor, forks, carb, wheels & tires are done. Tne new plastic (a little different than the stock OEM) has been purchased. Side plate and tank decals are on there way...The frame is waiting to be stripped and painted...stay tuned

Just finished it tonight...I still have to wire the rear light and get some proper clamps for the bash plate. The bike started on the 2nd kick and idled beautifully...
