Although this is a Husqvarna-specific forum, it is absolutely ok to discuss other brands.

Other brand-specific forums have entire subforums devoted to 'other brands', such as KTM & Gas Gas.

The best place to talk about other brands is in this general (Main) forum, which should probably be called Miscellaneous.

I totally agree. Just today i saw some remarks that surprised me. I don't think it does husky disservice to discuss openly what bikes are like what and what we like about them. We will then have information to hopefully help change the direction through posts about where we would like to see our much loved brand go. The bottom line is we are drawn to the husky brand for one reason or another and as such like to hang out here and chat. Many if not all of us owned or own other brands, still motorcycles, let it rip IMHO. I don't want to see this site turn into a free for all but i don't see that happening. I find it odd some of put off buy the GasGas thread, it's a cool looking bike. KTMtalk is full of other make threads, it's all good.

there is really only a few threads here that even work out that way. If you didn't want to participate, which is totally fine i don't know why you would just not click on it. :excuseme:

Telling people not to click on a thread seems a bit unfriendly to me, and a bit divisive.

On the other hand I would expect a thread titled threadtitle to have something about threadtitle in it.

Damn it Dean, you‘re twisting my arm... it aint right

    Alright !
    Alright already... I’ll confess

On last months Cycle World magazine there’s an advertisement on the back for this bike
It still hanging around the house, back side up for me to catch glimpses of it every time I pass by

    And it sucks cause it makes those googely eyes at me and I swear it whispers sweet nothings in my ear, telling me things like;
Hey there handsome, what’cha doing ?

You going out to play with your little Italian girlfriend ?
Hey, why don’t you feast your eyes on me
Don’t you want to see how a big strong woman feels like for a change ?
I see you looking at my trunk boy, you like it don’t you ?
How much junk do you think you can stuff in my trunk ?
I can keep you going for days, baby...

 Yeaaaaah... come on, you know you wanna...
    "

    And damn it
    I do,
    I do wanna...

Thanks Dean for the clarification. I feel it only makes Husky and us stronger and better. Hearing the pros and con of our brand and others will help all.
Like many have said most of us have/had other brands in the past and present. We're all mature adults on this forum and it shows with the knowledgeable and helpful posts. We can talk about other brands without bashing our favorite one and I for one have no problem with it.

But it is our love for Husqvarna that brings us here.

Many people are stunned and amazed that 'oil' threads are not full of irrational exuberance for a specific product and heated debates. I would like to think we could talk about other brands the same way.

Just because people find this place because they have a Husqvarna, life changes.

Just so it's clear.... I'm the curmudgeon who questioned all the Gas Gas frenzy. Carry on and I'll feel free in the future to post all my bike desires in the General (Main) section of CH. I did suggest to Dean that an "Other Bikes" section might be a good idea.

An "other bikes" section might be a hit here. The "other" bike sections on KTM Talk have a lot of action on them.

Thinking back...we have always been chit chatting about many other bikes...and never has an eyebrow been raised...

Fast forward to that 2011 Gas Gas photo....and it caused a big stir and its like.....wow I like that...I wanna try one etc...

for some I'm sure its like "Oh no there goes the neighborhood" :busted:

but a few debates and everythings cool....

I mentioned in another post that an other bikes section might be a good idea too..

And just to be clear I sent you a rather embarrassing PM meant for someone else. I openly apologize, and privately.

Someday there may be an other bikes forum, that would make sense. But as far as I can tell we are moving full steam ahead on using completely different software so the timing is probably not right at the moment. Probably this year sometime that will happen.

If things like 'other bikes' were strictly regulated, in theory THUMPER Talk would not allow 2st discussions. :p

Dean and I first discussed an "Other Bikes" section a very long time ago. The winds of change were blowing long before the GasGas thread started. We'll just have to see what they bring for us.

This topic is always a little funny to me ...free speech and free press must be OKed in a public forum? funny ...

I guess you could discriminate against people and other brands but what good is that really? :) ...who would actually be here but a person that owns a Husky or is intending to purchase a Husky... Why would you try and tell him\her what they can talk about here?

That ktm pic posed on here looks cool and that frame has got a Ducati flavor 4 sure ... Its almost impossible to come up with an original idea today in engineering ... U gotta wonder how strong that setup really is ... That is a big heavy powerful motor sitting there being held up by what? Has ktm aways made v-twin engines?

Interesting, I do fear the potential onslaught of other brands and associated clutter turning this wonderful, informative and polite site into the bun fight the TT has become. I am not per se against other brands, I have them now and will continue to do so, however I just don't want to wake up and find the waters very muddied and the concensus and conduct factor deteriorating. if however it was to generate informed opinion on aspects where our brand could focus and improve then I am not against the idea in principle.

(*cough*, clears throat....stands up) My name is Alex Rodriguez. This weekend is my last race on my Husqvarna. I will be on Yamaha and I will be selling my Husqvarna. I've owned a Husky for four consecutive years. The following months will be a trying time for me and I appreciate your support.

Apology accepted, but now I am clear on what is thought on my input to this site. In the future I will only post on my areas of interest on this site. You will not receive anymore PM's with my ideas and views on the operation and structure of the site. I will leave that to you and your mod team. It's almost time for my snowmobile sabbatical from CH, I think I will take it early. Look for me at www.arcticinsider.com, see you in the Spring!
