My Wife was up out her seat, jumping up and down and screaming during the A3 Main. Seems I've created a monster, a real life Moto-Mama. She's chomping at the bit for SX at the 'Q' in San Dawg on Feb. 8th and already planning our trip to the MEC. I take her to one SX race (A1) and she's been crazy over the sport ever since! She's even keeping track of points (WTH??). But, unlike me, she likes the big names whereas I tend to be provincial and cheer for kids like Canada, Champion, Weisbruch and Peick. Man, she REALLY wanted Reed to win. And, when he jumped out in front, she went bat sh&t crazy and would not sit down. "Come on Reed....come on Reeeeeeeeed!!!" she'd scream. I was like, "Who in the hell is this woman? I've certainly never seen her at ANY of my races." So, we're just five days away from SX at the 'Q' (Jack Murphy Stadium for you old timers) and she's pumped. And, with the theme being Armed Forces Appreciation (and both of us being in the service), that's just an added bonus for her. Yup, I think I've created a (SX) Monster.
That's a good thing if you ask me. It's cool to hear that your wife enjoys the same sport that you do. Hey if she doesn't ride now, she may start riding too.
We may have to hit a live one. My wife has watched enough that she knows most of the riders and has her favorites to root on. It does make it more fun to watch with her !!
I've seen older women here about faint when one these PRO riders does a whip or about anything in the air ... -- You guys are gonna have to play that SX card just right with your wives to get the full-house hand you know you deserve
She's got a quad, but I was eye-balling the new KX100 at T-Mec Motorsports the other day. Ya, it is pretty cool. I think what helps is she can sit in a seat and see the whole race whereas, in MX or Offroad, one has to run around quite a bit. None the less, she's into it!
She got to see her first transfer jump at A1. K-Dub nailed it as always. She screamed, "That was soooooo bad a$$ "
Man, the Mrs was in full-tilt mode for Saturday's event at the Q. Arguing w/our 18yo (the aptly named "Kid") over who was going to take it that night. She was backing CR22 due to his passed successes in San Dawg. All the way down the 15 Freeway, "Are you sh&ttin' me? Reed wins in San Diego!" The kid was like, "Ooooh my God Mom, are you like an expert now or something? Reed is oooold!" They went back/forth all the way to the Q. So, I had that in my ear for the entire hour's drive. We brought along a friend and her 4yo Son. My Wife was dragging them all over the pit area and giving them the who's who in the Zoo and educating them on the bikes, the sponsors, the gear they wear and where the riders come from. We went to the Moose Racing booth and she asked, "Honey, do you wear Moose?" When I said no, she responded with "They have really nice stuff". Folks, I think that's a green light! The monster is morphing but bummed the racing is headed east. I told her not to worry as Nationals are just around the corner and Round 1 will be, well, just around the corner Glen Helen in May.
Tough OZ bastage.....he will not quit. I hope he's back immediatly, big respect for his grit and fortitude.
He finished 12th overall in that race ... He might think he still has a chance to win a title ... Not that is is always a good idea, but if you are gonna be a champion, you gotta think that way and maybe ride if not too hurt ... Whether he rides this week or not ... He's already proven he's tough cookie ..
