Hey all, got my 610 roadracer running. Having some issues with the idle circuit, and have posted a vid -- feel free to weigh in with your comments. Is it rich or lean?

Looks like a fun project. How many turns out is your fuel screw? Also, rule out the possibility of an exhaust leak. If your fuel screw is more than 2 turns out, you may very well be lean and need to go with a larger pilot.

I'm assuming that's a modified FCR flatslide carb. If so, I think you might get a lot of benefit from a FloCommander velocity stack with adjustable main and pilot circuits. This willl allow you to fine tune your jetting as well as deliver more air. More info here... http://www.performance-design.net/flo_commander_2000.htm

I've had the 2 versions of the flo commander stack on my 610 along with the R&D accelerator pump spring and float bowl with accelerator pump adjustment. This combination has allowed me to dial in the jetting on the fly for exceptionally crisp throttle response. Here is a pic of my carb with the Flo Commander (60mm) with stock float bowl...

I've since upgraded to a larger version of the flo commander (63mm) with adjustable pilot and remote adjustable main circuits. You will need to check the clearance between your carb and frame to ensure you have enough space for the flo commander.

I'm already at two turns out, so that's why I think some bigger pilots are in order. A few questions -- the exhaust leak -- the header is definately not leaking, but how about the clamp joint between the muffler and the tailpipe? There is a slight leak there, but because it was not in the header itself, I didn't think it mattered so much... the same concept of running the bike without a muffler... like motoGP bikes. Know what I mean? Thanks for the link on the flow commander... will have to look into it, mainly because it is so freaking cool looking!!

I would eliminate any exhaust leak, one less variable to deal with. Carb circuits overlap so you're going to have to do some trial and error with different jet and needles to dial it in (or go with a flo-commander).

Pull the choke out a bit and see if that makes it better or worse?

(I am lazy...so that is what I would do)

Could it also be the timing? Incredibly, I looked closer and the headers on the custom system are turning cherry red while idling!!! It is thin wall stainless, but that is way too hot! Makes me think it might be more than just a too small pilot jet! Could a 610 engine even RUN after the camchain has hopped a tooth on the sprocket? The engine only has 6600 miles on it...

Not lazy, you have a quick and smart testing method! :D

Is this the diameter of the flo commander? Does that mean you have bored the carb out to that size?

EDIT, I just checked out their site. Looks like it might be the outer diameter that the airboot wraps around?
