Has anyone tried to do an idle relearn??? I'm on my 3rd. EFI MC. The 1st was a 2007 Triumph Tiger 1050. guilty of lean surge and abrupt throttle response. solved with the "Booster Plug". 2nd was my 2009 H.D. XR1200. Lean surge and stalling at stoplights and stumble on accel from stops. Cured with a "Patriot Top Fueler" piggyback adjustable device. Well I got thinking about my Tiger and the throttle relearn so I tried it tonite on my new Strada. I won't know how good it really did but after the procedure it sat for about an hour then restarted. The idle was stable at 1500 rpm and no matter how I blipped the throttle it came right back to 1500 rpm. Anyone else??
On my Tiger1050: From fully cold start the engine but do not touch the throttle, let it idle till the fan kicks on then for 15 min. shut ign. off all without touching the throttle. I won't know if it worked till this weekend. But I did order another AIT sensor to do the "Eruption" mod.
I tried that before I installed the eruption just to see if it had any effect because someone suggested it somewhere on the eruption thread. It had no effect. Keep in mind that the stalling problem only shows up while riding. You will come to a stop and the bike stalls - you will come to a rolling stop and the bike stalls. You will definitely know if you have this problem - it is both annoying and dangerous.
I can't say that I've had an issue like that. I do know that when cold, the bike sometimes stutters when I twist the throttle. If I crank it and let it idle while I throw on gloves/helmet/etc, then it has a chance to warm up to one or two bars, and then I have no issues at all.
I had the stall happen to me twice while turning onto a side road. luckily their was no one behind me at the time, I just popped the clutch and bump started the bike. I installed the Wukka King spoofer and all is good. I have never had a stall since.
Same Same , and can be downright f%#ken dangerous, about weekly! I think at this lean end it could be related to fuel quality (for some TRs). I installed a BP 4 months ago and all has been good since!
We used to call this the 10 minute tune up. Start it and let is cycle through at least two fan kick ons without touching the throttle once. This can be extra fun on these bikes if you are hunting for neutral with the kick down I love my Wuka plug, but found my pipes were getting a little sooty with it cranked to full. Turned it down a few days ago and have found it to be less awesome... might need to do a 10 min tune up with the wuka on the lower setting?
The Wuka Plug set to high make the TR fueling pretty much perfect, for me. I noticed a bit of soot in the pipes (after 1000+ miles at full tilt) and decided to turn it down a notch. My complaints with it turned down were on a cold morning (30ish), and only in the first 1-2 miles.
isldtime, you will like it. I found today that the snow flake symbol goes away at about 60* F. My temp gauge stated it was 40.1* F. I just finished the air box/air filter mod and all I can say is the bike is perfect now. I love it.
I have been running the Wuka King set up and then went to the Eruption set up.......supper smooth...very very nice
