Hey guys- Finally got my SM610 delivered, and I had to share pics with everyone. FYI- There are many like it, but this one is mine.
I did get it from Northern Co Euro Motorcycle, or whatever they call themselves. I got the $1000 off. Much better deal for us. Thanks! Now I can see why you guys take off that evap canister! Waiting for the first heat cycle, I cut the nub off the kickstand bolt. Much better already! I actually like the exhaust tone- will probably ditch it in the future, but its fine for a while. Hope I don't melt anything.
Ooh! A new Husky SM610! Neat-o! If you love it half as much as I love mine, you're in for a hot and heavy affair I heard all the horror stories about melting turn signals and side panels. I still have the stock exhaust and I haven't melted a thing yet. Congrats! WoodsChick
The ;fact that it is you'res is what makes it special. Really nice looking bike, once you get it all broken in you find it impossible not to want to do a bit of customizing. Congratulations and welcome to the 610 fratenity.
I'm already pumped about making it mine.. specialized. I cut the kickstand bolt now so it works like it should, but I didn't check to see if theres a throttle stop. Does anyone know if there is on on the 08s? I've seen threads about others that had it, but I don't know if mine does yet. I'll check tonight- blizzard warning here today, so unfortunately I couldn't ride it to work.
I can think of one nice road to ride that on, the road up the Poudre River. Give it a few heat cycles...get it warm, then let it cool. If it has a throttle stop it will look like this under that plastic cover..... http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5863696&postcount=7 . Check out Rick's page on his TE 610. http://www.rickramsey.net/TE610maintenance.htm Engines pretty much the same.
Sweet ride. Time to start spending If you do a lot of street miles your going to want a Renazco Racing seat.
And after the first night ride you'll want a headlight. The muffler makes a HUGE difference in power, beautiful too. Might want to get some miles on it stock first though. headlight...
Congrats on the new bike! I really want one of those too, but it looks like it's just not going to happen anytime soon for me. Too bad, because the $1000 rebate was a great deal. Lucky you were able to take advantage of it. Enjoy
Ha, yeah... took it out last night before the big snow hit, and I couldn't see SQUAT! I've never seen a headlight that bad. It is completely useless. I do plan on running up some miles with the stock pipe, but the motosportz can looks the best to me, plus its customizable.
Holy crap! That's the biggest temp plate I've ever seen. Kelly has all the fancy farkles you need to make it sweet... including Trail Tech Eclipse X2 lighting. I can tell you from experience, the Eclipse 2X is quite possibly the best made, most well finished numberplate/headlight I've ever owned... and damn bright too! Keep the red end up, C
I took a look at the lights- may have to get one of those. Is the HID worth it? I don't normally ride it at night. And yes, the plate is pretty large, but CO motorcycle plates are smaller.
If it turns a 1/4 turn like other 'normal' bikes then no, if it turns 1/8 (ish) turn then there is a throttle stop. Congrats!
Mmmmm, I guess I should point out that the Eclipse X2 lights are not DOT. Don't know if you care... but neither the HID or halogen have "cutoffs" that prevent blinding oncoming traffic. You can make cutoffs easy enough, but it might be more hassle than you want to screw with. I have the HID and they are fantastically bright. I've never seen the halogen in person but I understand they're damn bright too. The fact that the halogen unit sells for under $90 makes that light an amazing bargain. There are threads here about upgrading the stock lighting with a mo' betta' bulb... as an alternative "starting point". I know the CO permanent plates are OK size, I'd just never seen a CO temporary plate before... big enough to be an air brake.
