yup too hot in the midwest for this guy to be out there riding....now once the track gets lights a watertruck and a fulltime maintenance crew that might be a different story... kick em over at midnight baby!! hahaha hope everyone is hangin in there with this crappy weather, hell i think id overheat even if i was swimmin today heres to some cool weather hopefully sooner than later
Yep it was 100 here today in VA. I did at least wash a couple of the bikes. Not sure if I used more water on the bikes or me LOL.
Yep... it's been a hot one.... Going riding @ 6 am Sunday morning, 74 degree with 75-80% humidity. Try to get in 3-4 hours. I'll start hydrating Friday night, I'll miss the beer but I know it's for a good cause. Be careful out there.
Yeah, I switched back to the van There's just no way I'm putting on my riding gear...and I refuse to do it the Harley way... <-- me, waiting on this heat to get the fook outta here
Here in the Northwest it feels like Fall. Last Sundays ride it poured on me the entire time. Sucked but I sure prefer it over extreme heat. Hope you guys get a break from it soon.
where I live here in the outskirts of Seattle I think we have had 3 full weekends this entire year with sunny weather above 70. The ENTIRE rest of the time, drizzle, cloudy, rainy, misty, cloudy, rainy cold, windy non freaking stop. At this rate the leaves will start falling of the trees in another week. Its just weird everywhere.
It started raining here after a few weeks of hot, dry weather ... Warm rain so it is not so bad riding in it but you gotta watch about flash floods in all the creeks and rivers ... I'll just stay out of most of the ST and stay more on the double track roads or ST that I know is rocky, not too steep, and passable ... most of the MT double track \ roads are rocky (solid rock faces sometimes) with some dirt so traction is OK but throttle control \ clutch action is needed ... I rode a few roads today that were not 100% dirt and they had some very gnarly places where the water washed away everything but the big rocks and the gulleys were very deep .... I hope I can get some pics of the water in the mountains flooding in the future...
That's one thing I am thankful for... Rain. The past 4-5 year we've been in severe drought conditions this time of the year. This season it's rained a good bit, usually heavy afternoon thunder showers. I'd rather sweat in the mud than sweat in the dust.
If you do ride, soak your head band \ dew rag and maybe jersey \ pants in some water ...this will help keep you cool ..
We have been pretty lucky out here in California. Except for in the desert, there haven't been too many days that have been over 90 yet this summer.
Once it starts getting over 90 I tend to be a LOT more careful and it takes a few rides to acclimate. My heat threshold aint what it once was and trying to stay on pace is a recipe for diaster. Been there, don't do it. Be careful and know the signs of heat stroke. Heat index aint no joke.
It's s hot here a customer where I was working at today told me his honey bees had to keep flapping their wings in the hive to keep the wax from melting!
I went out to the high desert today for some singletrack. Got up there about 4 o clock. Was pretty bearable by then. I rode until about 7. It was about 72 degrees by then. The dez was full of green and blooms because we had all that "monsoon" thunderstorm activity about a little over a week ago. There was no water left anywhere though. My local club did a night ride last Saturday also. Was very cool at night and a great ride, until the skunk ran into my front wheel and sprayed my poor TE. The rest of the evening wasn't so lovely for me after that.
awesome 72degrees sounds perfect rite about now!! sucks you got skunked though lol suprised our dogs havent gotten it yet this year.
Well....i hit it this morning a little late but i still got out there. my goal was 10 laps and i made it 6...i laid er down in the corner on lap 3 and i went to hell fast after that...i havent measured it but the track i beleive now is somewhere between 3/4 and 1 1/4 mile for reference
