    Hey dudes,

Ive currently got a Mikuni TMX38, but its blowing plugs like no tomorrow and theres heaps of spooge seeping out. Im thinking of swapping it out for a Keihin PWK38 as others have done on this site, and looking at shipping the PWK38 A/S with JD from jdjetting.com.

    1. Whats the difference/advantages between standard PWK38 and PWK38 with A/S ?
    2. Should I get JD Jetting and how beneficial is it compared to the standard PWK jets/needle ?
    3. Will i need a new throttle cable to fit it? (another expense...)

I just traded my keihin pwk for a z start pro Rekluse. I didn't see much difference between the two. TMX better top end and the Keihin starts a little easier, and a tad less spooge. I went with the Lectron smoothed out the power delivery, normal spooge (just a little but not drueling or dripping) but I didn't really see any improvement in fuel economy. Still very happy with the Lectron.

Nice trade  I gave up the the TMX, skipped the PWK and went for the Lectron. I'm still fine tuning, but already a huge improvement.
If you're set on the PWK, I think many ordered the carb from JD already jetted for their locale and were happy.

I have the same pipe, air filter, and spark plugs and I also run a 50:1 mix.

I live in the rocky mountains and have ridden my bike from 5000 - 10,000 ft (1500 - 3000 m) and a wide temperature range and my PWK is great with a little turn of the air screw and adjusting the idle screw.

    I hope that helps.

dunno what style of riding you do Jase but i bought one bottle of the motul 800 years ago & havent bought one since. fouled plugs & spooged like a mofo! if youre WFO alot then it should be fine though. put an ad in classifieds section for a PWK. i recommend the lectron, i skipped the PWK altogether. PM Ausky on this site, hes in QLD & last time i was at his joint he had a box full of carbs of all sorts plus hes running a lectron too so he might be able to help you out? good fella & very knowledgable too. might be able to give you some jetting/tuning tips as he has owned an assortment of huskies(primarily 2T) in the past & present. just an idea mate. Rockdancer might be worth a try too mate.

the pwk is much better than the tmx. the pwk adds bottom end power and smooths the hit.Bike starts sooooooo much easier and never have to rejet. I have mine set at pj42 mj172 DEL in 3rd clip and AS@1 1/2 turns

100% with shawbagger on the Motul 800 , Ran two tanks of fuel useing it and gave up on it. Never fouled a plug but must of come close looking at the plug, Stuff smokes like a room full of junkies and dribbles more sludge than a blocked drain.

let me mix it up a bit.
when I bought my 2013 WR250 it would not get out of its own way. I read here about the pwk38as and ordered one at my LBS as I have a lot of jets for the Kehien (lots of 2T in my garage) a year later even bought the jd needles it was a spooge monster. I bought a bunch of Mikuni jets reinstalled the TMX spent one day jetting and the bike has never been better no more spooge and I just got first in class at Sundays NHHS.

thanks for the replies everyone! legends

i do ride WFO. do you recommend motorex? not sure how many other options are at my local store.
the lectrons look awfully expensive here in aus. cant see cheaper than ~$500 :/ altho ill trying pm'ing ausky, cheers

unfortunately my mikuni carby might need replacing. its now missing the top rubber seal, the slide needle retainer is broken, and i think the float needle seat thingy is a bit worn. it is 14 years old. and buying a new mikuni tmx turns out to be more expensive than a jd jetted keihin pwk ($400aud from the us).

Prices here for JD PWK and Lectron are about the same (didn't check current ex. rate) Here, Lectron and cable @ $425 US! But it is worth it if you can swing it.
